Il problema è che pur ispirandosi ai migliori modelli del noir, dai classici Anni 40 a Tarantino e ai fratelli Coen di Il crocevia della morte, il ventottenne Bryan Singer resta troppo schiavo della sua cinefilia per riuscire a dar vita e respiro ai personaggi e alla storia. Ciò non toglie che questo suo secondo film lo collochi nella lista dei cineasti da tener docchio. Così che I soliti sospetti finisce per rasentare la parodia senza averne il coraggio, e ci lascia con una Sagrada Familia senza pinnacoli e con la sensazione di essere stati un po presi in giro.
