Outlaw Model 950 7.1 Channel Preamp / Processor. This unit is an audiophile advance from the typical multi-channel home theater receiver. By excluding any power amplifier sections, it has dedicated preamp and processor circuits independent of the heat, weight, and interactions of a power amplifier. Note the compact size! Further, it allows unlimited upgrades of a separate multi-channel power amp so your system can grow with newer speakers and their power requirements. The trigger circuits on the Outlaw will make the chosen power amp turn on and off as if they are one machine. Original owner. I bought this because it was less than half the price of the competing Marantz, Denon, etc. pre/pros on the market at the time and is particularly known for its audiophile quality preamp and tuner section (notice all inputs/outputs are gold plated). Outlaw was founded as a high-end company in Easton, MA, that sells directly to consumers and therefore doesnt have any dealer costs or markup. They have been in business for a quarter century. This pre/pro does not have HDMI connectors, but has nine analogue inputs, a 6-channel analogue input, multiple digital inputs in coax and optical format, a tape monitor loop, and a second zone output and controls. It does not have a phono preamp stage. It does have Dolby Digital, DD-ES, Dolby Pro-Logic II, DTS, DTS-ES, and NEO-6 decodiing, plus Cirrus Extra Surround processing. A few years ago, a thunder storm zapped a couple of the memory chips so I sent the unit back to Outlaw in Easton, MA. They went completely over the unit and updated a number of parts. When they returned it, I had already installed a 2.5X more expensive Marantz pre-pro, so I never actually unboxed the unit. Note that Outlaw components came with a 5-year warranty when McIntosh only gives 3 years, and most other components are only 90 days. Although not tested since Outlaw returned it, I presume they made it work like new. They included a pack of Outlaw playing cards in the return shipment (see pics), which I think is pretty funny. The only issue I had with it before the lightening was that the remotes volume control (not the unit itself) was intermittent. However, I used a universal remote (Logitech Harmony 1), so this was never an issue. Sale includes Owners Manual, Remote, Remote Repeater Unit (for using the remote when the pre/pro is in a cabinetor out of line-of-sight), and original box/packing material. For sale is this one-of-a-kind pair of Omega Outlaw speakers. These tower speakers each consist of a single RS5 driver with a powered 8 inch subwoofer. I am selling them because we changed around the music and speaker arrangement at my house and I no longer have the space to display, use, or store them. I'd rate them at a 4 out of 10, due to a small scratch on the top of one of the speakers (not through the veneer), one of the floor spikes has some scratching from adapting them to felt pad use, and the dust cap on one of the speakers got pushed in at some point. To my ears this has not affected the sound on that speaker at all. Here's a little background on these speakers, as they really are a special piece of kit. Louis at Omega Speaker Systems for a while would make, on occasion, one-off speakers in his outlaw series. These usually included his proprietary RS5 or RS7 speaker driver paired with a powered subwoofer. This particular pair was originally sold to a gentleman in Renton, WA, and was purchased by me in 2016. If you're interested in these, you'll want to do some reading online about how capable these speakers are. The sensitivity of the RS5 driver allows them to be properly driven with a Single Ended Triode (SET) amplifier with as low as 8 watts per channel. I powered them with a mid-range class-D amplifier, and was more than happy with the results, but these will SHINE with proper tube amplification. Bought this on here in the beginning of 2020. Im the third owner but the first owner never used it, bought it as old new stock. The second owner bought it literally in new condition. The second owner only used it for a few months. When I received it, it still has the factory fresh smell to the item and packaging. It was in flawless/mint condition when I received it in 2020. Since owning it for the last three years it has been in service for me for about one and a half year, due to media room construction. I have mostly used it for my four Atmos channels and briefly hooked up my wide channels. The current condition is flawless everywhere except the front mark as showed in the photo, in which I accidentally did placing in my other amp. I wouldnt describe it as not scratch, as you can not feel it, running your fingers over it. Thats why I referred to it as a mark. I hate myself for it! It has always been babied with an open rake system with cool air fit it to breathe. This has a lot of life left with only about 2 years of use in total. Hard to come by for an amazing amp. I briefly compared this to the my newer Outlaw 5000x to the 7075 and the 7075 beats it by a mile. Music was lifeless on the 5000x. Yes the 5000x gave a lot more power, but tonality was not good. It was no comparison. The only reason Im selling this it because I found a 7125 which I upgraded too. Do I need the big 7125, no. But I just had a small upgrade bug. I believe Outlaw took a huge step back trying to keep prices low with the made in China with China parts. Not that I think all China parts are bad, as I have had many good made in China gear.
