Description
ORTOFON OM 40 Optimum Match Magnetic Cartridge - New/Unused Unused/opened box OM 40 from my personal collection. Purchased some years ago and safely stored since purchase in controlled conditions, including temperate temperature and air/light tight containment. Pristine condition and recent continuity check of each channel verified coil resistance to specification and exceptionally close balance. The OM 40 is Ortofons top-of-the-line moving magnet cartridge and achieves a level of performance to satisfy the most critical and ardent music lover. Its technical assets and performance are class leading in all respects as is, most importantly, the resulting quality of musical reproduction. The amazing technical performance was achieved through continuous development and utilizing the latest technology in both its design and construction. A major factor in both its technical and musical performance is the adoption of the remarkable, highly acclaimed Van den Hull stylus shape of the Type II version. The type II bestows both exceptional tracking ability and groove tracing performance, which ensures:-tracking of even the highest frequency groove information, especially in the inner most turns of the groove.significantly reduced record and stylus wear.significantly reduced distortion and phase error. As well as the stylus shape itself, the Van den Hull stylus is also distinguished by the grade of diamond used, ie. grain oriented, gem class natural diamond. In the OM 40, Ortofons engineers have further developed and refined the famous VMS generating system so that this cartridge boasts an extended, more linear frequency response, improved channel separation, lowered distortion, improved tracking ability - all at lower tracking force! Additionally, higher output has been achieved together with less sensitivity to capacitive loading. Also, the stylus system is optimised, using computer analysis/simulation, to give more stable armature movement, resulting in further enhanced performance with regard to overall tracking ability, channel separation in the treble and lower FIM distortion. What does all the above mean - it means outstanding sound quality from your cherished records together with absolutely minimum wear to both records and stylus.
