Description
Ortofon MC10 Super MKII for sale, freshly retipped with a nude low mass, high polish, mirror finish, square shank, jewelry grade, grain-oriented 5/75 µm Fritz Gyger FG 2 line contact diamond stylus that is a slight upgrade over the original Fritz Gyger FG70 (5/70 µm). Cartridge has been thoroughly checked out, bench tested, play tested, and guaranteed to perform as new. Sounds absolutely amazing. Personal Note: The MC20 Super is one of my all time favorites and I retip and rebuild every single one that I can find including repairing broken suspensions and winding new silver-plated copper wire coils for them. Such repairs are very expensive and time consuming. I often take a loss when I sell a totally rebuilt cartridge, but I don’t care because I really love saving these to keep them going and making vinyl lovers happy. They are that good. In fact, in 2010 Ortofon reintroduced it as a 25 anniversary heritage model and quickly sold out at over $800 a pop. The difference in spec between this MC10 Super MKII and the MC20 Super are minuscule. Coils, diamond, cantilever, output*, compliance and all other specs are all the same except that the MC10 Super MKII weighs 10g to the MC Super MKII 9g. *MC10 Super MKII output spec is 2.0mV; MC 20 Super output spec is 2.5mV, yet this MC10 Super MKII tested right in between the last two MC20 Supers I sold. Compared to cartridges available today, you would have to spend about $1000 to get something comparable with the current Ortofon Quintet Black and the fact is, this rebuilt unit has a better cantilever and a much higher quality original double damped suspension. Comparing specs alone, this cartridge exceeds the current Quintet Black. As you can see from the photos, separation readings are an excellent 34dB which of course is considerably above 25dB spec, and channel balance is below 1dB, well within 1.0dB spec and output is excellent and in phase. It’s in perfect condition except for some cosmetic blemishes and patina as can be seen in photos. What you see is what you get. I stand behind all my retipped cartridges, styli and retipping services. Check my feedback if you’ve got any doubts at all. The fact is, I can make your cartridge sound as good or better than new because I run a very tight QC regimen. I personally adjust and tune each cartridge until it operates at its best, which isn’t always the case when you buy new. Why take a chance on used from another vendor who can’t service what they sell and offers no warranty? Thanks for looking and, by all means, if you have any old broken or used worn cartridges or styli lying around, please contact me. I am always looking for donors. Competitive prices paid. If you need your MC10 Super MKII or MC20 Super to be retipped with this diamond or an original FG70 or any other currently available diamond, please let me know! Happy to help!
