For me that meant turning on receiver at least 20 minutes before I want to watch something - then fine once HDMI board warmed upthe remote control is missing the battery cover - so batteries are taped to make sure they dont fall outthe front panel bottom cover tends to fall open. It has masking tape (not visible) on back side of lower cover to keep it closedAll that said, this receiver puts out a lot of power (140 watts x 8 working channels) and has nearly all of the latest AVR features. Can certainly be used just for the power amp section to power up to 8 channels at 140 WPC.
