Es bietet sechs Funktionen in einem Gerät: - Musikserver - Vorstufe - D/A Wandler - CD-Ripper und CD-Brenner - CD-Spieler - Internet Radio Der Musikserver speichert CDs in auswählbarer Qualität auf seiner Festplatte und stellt diese im Netzwerk zur Verfügung und/oder spielt diese direkt über digitale und analoge Ausgänge ab. Interessant und komfortabel ist das Abrufen der Titel über das Netzwerk mittels eines externen Streamers, wie z.B. dem Cambridge Audio Azur 851 N, Cambridge Audio CX N, Eversolo DMP, Nubert X und ähnliche. Aber auch per Software wie Bubble Upnp oder Hifi-Cast lassen sich die Titel aufrufen und direkt im Smartphone oder Tablet abspielen oder an einen Netzwerkplayer weiterleiten; auch wieder zurück an den Olive. Als Standalone Gerät kann der O4HD direkt an eine Endstufe angeschlossen werden und als Vorstufe fungieren.
