Single core coaxial cable offers the lowest capacitance and in this case 2 layers of shielding, with high purity copper conductor and braid Mylar / aluminium foil shield with polyethylene dilectric. (Most importantly the dielectric mustn’t contain PVC). This is a significant step up over the manufacturers supplied cable, which will have lower quality copper and they usually use PVC dielectric. Burn In As the signal from the cartridge is so small it will take years to burn in a tonearm cable so instead I am sending a line level signal from my DAC through the cable to my pre-amp. This will burn in cable 10000x faster than a moving coil cartridge! While I have found that 24 hours of this does the trick for this premium cable I extend this process to 48 hours. I am using the Tara Labs Cascade Burn in file – from their website…“The new CASCADE noise burn-in disc is a proprietary combination of white noise with frequency tone bursts and pink noise mixed at different levels. However, what makes it really effective is a series of descending and ascending (cascading) multi-octave square sweeps for better and more complete results than any other “burn-in” discs that have been made to date. The CASCADE noise burn-in disc may be used with audio electronic component and with audio cable including cables with attachments such as batteries or filter networks. Before and after results will be obvious with any of these cables.”
