Vintage Nakamichi OMS-5Aii CD Player This is a vintage Nakamichi OMS-5Aii CD Player in very nice condition. Manufactured in Japan in the 1980s. Powers up, lights work, knobs work… however, once a CD was finishing being “read” after loading, the tray opened. So, I was not able to test playback. I am not entirely sure what the problem is, but I assume something with the laser? Maybe it just needs a good cleaning… but that is not something I want to attempt. So, please bear this in mind when bidding. Could probably use a little dusting/cleaning/polishing, as everyone’s idea of clean varies. But, this is a nice vintage unit. Classic Nakamichi amplifier in excellent condition. Just some little nicks here and there otherwise very clean. The amplifier has a noise issue that comes on about 10 minutes into warming up. A white noise that can be in one channel or the other or both. After about 15 or so minutes of that it goes away and the channels are quiet. It doesnt always do it but most of the time it does. It a quiet room youll hear it if semi close to your speakers. It seems to be a ground loop issue. I dont know why but if you move the RCAs around the noise changes. The sound is mostly out of the tweeters. The channels always work Otherwise it sounds very good with lots of separation and a midrange thats natural. Look closely at all the pics. Ask any questions you may have. Comes with a 14 gauge power cord. It will be packed solid with thick styrofoam encasing it and fully insured. Direct signature will be required. (As is)

The changes include both additional control features and circuit modifications. The Series II circuit design closely resembles that of Nakamichi’s top Control Amplifier, the CA-7A. The principal changes from the “minimalist” control design of the CA-5 are the addition of defeatable tone controls, two-way tape-dubbing facilities, and three selectable gain settings for the moving-coil (mc) phono input. Despite its external simplicity, the CA-5A II is a highly flexible preamplifier. It has five high-level inputs, and the single phono input is switchable between mc and mm modes by a small toggle on the rear apron. Another toggle switch selects capacitances of 100, 200, or 300 picofarads (in parallel with a nominal 50,000-ohm resistance) as an input termination for mm cartridges or gains of 24, 30, or 36 dB for mc cartridges. Because I live in a small town, UPS is the only carrier in town. The Buyer will be responsible for all shipping charges. Shipping cost includes packing/handling/and insurance. We have for sale a paper original factory service manual for a Nakamichi CR-5 (+ CR-5A and CR-5E) Generally clean unless noted otherwise. Please read below for details: We are selling off service manuals from our old shop and that of another friendly competitor from the area. These were both very active repair shops in their day and the manuals got used! We will try to point out any flaws we spot other than ones visible in the pictures. There is often writing in the manuals but generally it is helpful service information to help fix a quirky problem a technician encountered while working on the unit. When it says service notes on back page or see bulletins on the front cover it doesnt necessarily mean they are in this manual! Often the bulletins were kept elsewhere in the shop. PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS MANUAL IS AN EXACT MATCH TO THE COMPONENT YOU HAVE!
