The result?… What is essentially a Threshold power amplifier but way better looking and less than half the price.They were supposed to just license his STASIS technology, which combines the benefits of Class A amplification without the drawbacks (runs stupid hot = very low reliability) into a hybrid Class A/Class AB power amplifier with optical bias. Well, they didn’t just license STASIS. Rather, the first generation of the PA-7 is a direct copy of the equivalent Threshold amp (S300 II). A lawsuit ensues, then Nakamichi releases the PA-7II with an altered design providing 25 more WPC (watts per channel) and a higher price tag. But everyone knew then and knows now that the original PA-7 was, “the one to get”. The PA-7 delivers 200 watts per channel, uses no overall negative feedback (a Pass trademark), and boasts the Stasis section, which consists of a low-power voltage amplifier coupled to the current mirror bootstrap output stage to do all the heavy lifting required for high-power output.Back in 1989, when Stereo Review featured the PA-7, writer Julian Hirsch measured the PA-7’s output at 253 watts into an 8-ohm load, 400 watts into a 4-ohm load, and 650 watts into two ohms. Nakamichi PA –7 stereo power amplifier! This is a rare piece! We sold the amp earlier to a customer shipped it UPS in a well packed box! When the customer received the amp it was damaged as you seen in the pictures! Seeing how it weighs over 50 pounds it was obviously dropped! It has a rattle inside of it, and the power button is pushed inside! This amp was in pristine condition when it was sold! Comes with the original paperwork! This is what we got back! Untested and sold as is with no returns. This remote was found in a lot of other vintage electronics all new in boxes. I suspect very much that this one is also like new and in working order. I had no way to test. Please see photos. The remote is near mint with only minor storage wear and the cord does have some “dust” for lack of a better term. I did not attempt to clean. Hi Gang - Up for auction is super clean Nakamichi NR-200 Dolby B & C Noise Reduction System. A very rare, high quality outboard noise reduction system that can be used with any high quality analogue recorder, e.g. cassette, reel to reel, elcassette etc. It’s ideal for adding Dolby noise reduction to a high quality cassette not fitted with Dolby, eg early Nakamichis, Revox etc, or to add Dolby C noise reduction which didnt find it way on to many decks. Also ideal for reel to reel machines which were mostly not fitted with Dolby. The unit is in excellent condition except for a few minor scratches on the top cover. The front panel looks new, as do the back and sides. Inside looks brand new, no leaking caps or any evidence of water/moisture or smoke damage. See pictures for details. The inside is like new. The case is excellent. Comes with the original English owners manual and a copy of the multi-language manual. this NR200 was purchased from Electronic Service Labs (The #1 Nakamichi Experts) in 2007, after a thorough check-over.
