HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) is a 20-bit decoding approach developed by Pacific Microsonics around 1995, substantially increasing the players dynamic range. This is NOT SACD. Digital out via coax or optical. Excellent transport option for use with an external DAC. Check out hifi wiki or hifi engine if youre not familiar with what this model has to offer. Its a great piece, has excellent specs, and was produced for only two years, making it hard to find, and very hard to find in this condition!! NAD has been at the forefront of affordable, great sounding H-Fi since it was formed in the 1970s. This CD player comes from a long line of highly rated machines and it won many awards in its day. For those interested, it uses a Texas Instruments Burr Brown delta-sigma DAC. This creates the typical NAD sound which is beautifully clean and clear whilst at the same time having a warmth rarely associated with digital playback. If youre used to listening to Spotify, the fulness and power of this little CD player will be a revelation. Within the range, this CD player sits above the entry level C521 models and the sophistication of the sound is a step above these players. If you happen to have any HDCDs, then you’ll be in for a real treat with this player. This is a specialist format which shouldn’t be confused with SACD. This one is in excellent original condition considering its age. I have given a thorough clean inside and out before giving it a full service including cleaning and deoxiting all of the micro-switches, lubricating the mechanisms and replacing the laser and drive belt for the draw mechanism. This machine is a rare machine amongst the many NAD CD players on this platform, made more so by its complete service. NAD makes a remote control for the CD player, however, I DO NOT have one for this player. It will be shipped in a new, double wall cardboard box via ParcelForce to a UK home address only please. ParcelForce are more reliable than the usual eBay couriers, however, if it arrives in anything other than the condition I have described, please contact me immediately. I will require photographic evidence of the box and CD player before issuing a refund as I cannot make a claim against the courier without it.
