This NAD preamp does work, but it has a couple issues. First, its missing the physical power button but the mechanism still works. Secondly, the sound on the right speaker goes in & out. A slight jiggle of the volume knob makes that issue go away which PROBABLY means that its just an oxidation issue and a spray of de-ox should PROBABLY fix that. Lastly, there is a separate issue with the phono and I couldnt get any sound through the speakers. I have priced the unit accordingly. It does have some cosmetic imperfections - please see pics. NAD 1300 Pre Amp has been fully tested on all sources (tuner, CD, turntable, tape and auxiliary). Pre Amp plays perfectly with no scratchy knobs or other interference, the only issue is when playing an album. When playing records there is a lower hum that is audible especially on very low volume. Please see the one photo where the MM/MC switch broke, which may be causing the hum. The switch still works fine, but you need to use a pen or other object to change between MM and MC. I had this paired with an Adcom GFA-555 II which was a great pairing. Sold off the Adcom so no longer have a need for the NAD Pre Amp.
