This is a 1988-vintage NAD Monitor Series Power Amplifier 2100 POWER Envelope that is completely tested and is fully functional. It is very clean, inside and out. The original 1988 MSRP was $398, which is the equivalent of $1,055 in 2025. This was a middle-of-the-line NAD amplifier in the 1988 line. It was very conservatively rated at 50 WPC into 8 ohms at .03% THD, but it can put out 150 WPC into 8 ohms in bridged mono mode. NAD stands for New Acoustic Dimension, and the company was founded in 1972. This is how NAD described this model in the original sales brochure: “We are a leading producer of affordable amplifiers that produce the full measure of dynamic headroom required by digital recordings. The best buy 2100 Power Amp is remarkable even by NADs standards. While its rated power for continuous test tones is 50 watts channel, its effective power output for music is an impressive 200 to 330 watts per channel (depending on speaker impedance). Thanks to NADs unique Power Envelope circuitry, this high level of tone-burst power is available not just for brief transients but for the full duration of complex chords and musical climaxes. Yet the 2100 has the same modest size and low price as other 50 watt amplifiers with 40,000 µ F of power-supply capacitance, the 2100 delivers peak currents as high as 30 amperes to cope with the most complex and reactive loudspeaker impedances. This NAD 2100 is serial #T21013305X. The inspection date on this unit is July 12, 1991, so it was a late production unit. I am passionate about vintage amplifiers. I take the time to test every single function of the amp by connecting it to a good preamplifier and connecting speakers. Doing this lets me listen to how the amplifier actually sounds. I check every single switch, control and button to confirm that they work as intended. After the initial assessment, I thoroughly clean the outside and inside of the tuner and clean every potentiometer and switch with CRC QD Electronic cleaner. I also check and adjust the amplifier idle current to the proper value from the Service Manual. This particular NAD 2100 is in very good shape cosmetically, as you can see from the photos. Functionally, all of the LEDs, displays and buttons work as designed. Most importantly, it sounds great. It is missing the purely cosmetic green outer portion of the power button. It is hard to believe that it is roughly 34 years old! The amplifier will be wrapped with plastic cling wrap and bubble wrap, before being placed into a sturdy box with appropriate packing material. First one under turntable This amplifier is in pristine beautiful condition. It has been cleaned and treated to get the best sound quality with no crackles when knobs are adjusted. The sound quality is clean, clear, smooth and robust. It fills a 2000 Square foot room fully at 1/8 volume, and when demanded can clear the room at full volume. Hier ein kurzer Abriss über die technischen Daten: Leistungsaufnahme 330VAAbmessungen 435x106x385mm (BxHxT)Gewicht 9,5kgDynamikleistung an 8 Ohm: 200WDynamikleistung an 4 Ohm: 250WDie Endstufe kann im Brückenbetrieb (Mono) betrieben werden, dann erreicht man eine Dynamikleistung von 500W (an 8 Ohm) oder sogar 660W (an 4 Ohm). Nähere Details können dem Internet entnommen werden. Der Artikel hat am Gehäuse teilweise erhebliche Gebrauchsspuren (siehe Bilder), desweiteren ist ein Lautsprecherkanal defekt. Es wurde bereits versucht, den defekten Kanal instandzusetzen (einige Teile waren abgebrannt); zuletzt konnte dieser auch vorsichtig über einen Strombegrenzer in der Netzzuleitung in Betrieb genommen werden, einwandrei funktionierte es aber immer noch nicht (immer noch erhöhte Stromaufnahme).
