For sale Musical Fidelity F2 And FX Pre-power pair. Taking each in turn then: F2 Pre- Amplifier Actually a pretty basic pre-amplifier with phono stage and no pretentions I recall at the time the phono stage was well regarded, or Ive read somewhere since, but Ive frankly no idea when it comes to vinyl. I guess its Moving Magnet as theres no option. Pretty sure its the famous A1 pre amp under the skin, just given a dose of OH so pretty - not a bad thing at all All re-capped, where electrolytics are concerned and cleaned. Op-Amps replaced with Burson Audio V6 Classic. I am a bit cynical of snake oil products but these do work rather well here. replacing the stock NE5532s FX power amp - Stereo 90W / channelThis is the only one with the F-Series fluted heatsinks that matches the F series pre-amp for proportions. In my opinion The F19 / F16 look wrong / weird in comparison. Essentially a dual mono power amp with separate circuits for left and right channels. As a side effect of the Class A-ness of this amp the heatsinks are there for a purpose and do get warm to the touch. As an aside, the FX was replaced by the FX-2 presumably because Musical Fidelity thought it might be a good idea to make some money! These original FXs are simply better made, albeit electrically similar. Again all re-capped, the mains power capacitors in particular do not age well. Note missing fastener on the lid - somewhere along the line an overtightening occurred. Not by me, I hasten to add. Absolutely gorgeous pairing both audibly and visually . See the photos for details on the latter Reason for sale? - I now use a pair of mono FX-2s in that had to be upgraded to this spec, hence comments above :) Final note: the F-series is 480mm wide, so please ensure they fit your stand.
