It does drive 4 Ohm speakers- did a wonderful job with Magnepans SMGas. I never turned the volume past 10 oclock. Condition: PLEASE NOTE: It works well with no problems except for the CD input whish has noise when connected ( I was told so when I bought it). It did not bother me as I used mainly the Phono and Aux and Tuner inputs. I was told that it might be a loose solder but I do not have any technical idea or knowledge.
