This is an excellent step-up transformer (SUT) for your moving coil phono cartridge that compared favorably to a $2000+ Ortofon transformer I borrowed from my dealer. This is the Music First 632 SUT, Made in England. It received a very favorable review from Stereophile and appeared in that magazines list of Recommended Components for several years. This is a 1:10 step up, so it multiplies the output of your cartridge by a factor of 10 while reducing the phono stages input impedance by a factor of 100 as seen by your cartridge. In practice, this works best with cartridges in the range of 0.3mV to 0.5mV and with internal impedance of 47 Ohms or less. Ive tried this with Hana, Benz, Denon and Miyajima cartridges with good results. It is a great bargain even at its original price. Read the Stereophile review. This cool little Naim all-in-one single speaker audio system does everything youd hope it would. The Mu-so Qb (first generation) can play music or other audio through a bluetooth connection, a wifi connection, a usb connection, a digital audio connection or an analogue connection (can you say cassette deck?), and loves playing Spotify or Tidal. And, it is built with Naims commitment to audiophile quality music reproduction and excellence. I used this speaker for about a year in a temporary housing situation and for me, as a bedside, office or den auxiliary system, it was perfect. Please note, this is the first generation of the Mu-so Qb and does not come with a remote. However all original packing, boxes and manuals will be included. And, if the condition looks good to you, it it because it is. It has been very well cared for, owned only once (I have the original receipt) by a finicky audiophile, and appears like new. Music First Audio Copper TVC (ex demonstration) Item: MFA Copper TVC (used) Item Description: Here at Deco weve been huge advocates of Transformer Volume Control passive pre amplifiers ever since the first designs came to market. To us they are the least intrusive of all pre amplifiers, they have the transparency of attenuator passive pre amplifiers with the dynamic drive and tonal colour of a good active design, without any of the noise or imprecision that those tend to add. This example is quite an early model from Music First Audio (I suspect its one of the earliest ones with decent chassis mounted RCA sockets), it was our demo model and then has become something of a (very occasionally used) benchmark for us to reference back to, but its now time to move it on. It comes in an original box (possibly not its original box, but definitely the same packaging as it would have had) and a manual is included as pictured. It has been well looked after and is in very good condition, not quite perfect but not obviously majorly marked in any intrusive way as is shown in the pictures. As can be seen from the picture of the rear panel, it has 2 XLR inputs, 4 RCA inputs (all Line level, naturally) and both XLR and RCA outputs. A +6dB and ground lift switch are also part of the specification. The volume control has a maximum attenuation of -52dB which suits the majority of systems, but arguably mismatched systems (very high gain power amplifiers and/or very high efficient speakers) may mean the lowest volume setting is louder than ideal, but in my experience this is very rarely an issue. This is still a great sounding pre amplifier today so is highly recommend! Please see our other items for lots more great hifi products.
