Here is a Monarchy audio DIP. Earlier version. I been using for a while. Helps reduce Jitter and possibly adds a buffer. As well as that can be effective way to switch two digital sources to one DAC. I personally heard more depth to the sound and fuller bass. Less strident highs. YMMV.

Presenting a nice example of the highly regarded Monarchy Audio DIP 24/96 Digital Audio Processor. What does the DIP do ? It reduces jitterthat form of distortion created when a CD player or transport reads the disc and transmits the data. Jitter, the great bugaboo of digital, can give you the heebie-jeebiesthe more you do to banish it, the better your digital playback system will sound. To do just that, the DIP uses a Phase-Locked Loop to recover the master clock, suppresses as much of the jitter as possible, then encodes the new data and clock into a fresh datastream. (Theres isolation so the incoming datastream doesnt foul the outgoing datastream. REVIEW OFF THE NET: In my mind, no digital front-end should be without one, even entry-level DVD players. In my system, the DIP 24/96 refined the audio signal to a degree that was non-debatable. Even my wife agreed that the improvement to the sound was obvious (although she continues to bust my chops about magical black boxes). Youd have to own a very impressive front-end to not benefit from the units jitter suppression and signal conditioning.
