For Sale is one set (pair) of MIT Shotgun S1 biwire speaker cables of 10 foot length. Allow me to explain all that goes into that title :-). You may want to skip to the bold print toward the bottom... Shotgun speaker cables have come to take on multiple meanings. Some of those meanings actually came in the naming of MIT (Music Interface Technologies) original products, the ones that gained the most attention early on. In this case it speaks both to the model type and connection type. MIT now makes some Crazy expensive speaker cables, ones you and I will never get to hear in all likelihood. This set I bought a dozen years ago for something like $1600 On Sale which was for me quite a stretch... but quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, kinda. Anyway, I dont regret the purchase, they have brought me a lot of joy. This model line is a good value. They have gone through many product lines, climbing the ranks, now theyve left the planet - I mean $60,000 speaker cables??? Look them up. So, back to Earth, I am glad I jumped in when I did. I am glad I talked to the techs about these and other MIT products. When you know that you are going to have to leave these cables in place and break them in for a week, even after they have been played for years, you stand a good chance of getting higher happiness for you money. Again, you, if you buy these, are going to have to play them for a week, night and day, (with a radio) before they settle in and perform as they should. Maybe thats why they pop up so seldom for sale, its a commitment to buy and own these cables. You will see a lot of the lower levels for sale here and there, the Terminator series was popular and within reach for a LOT more people and they did some AV series which was a thing for a while but those days are gone. This Shotgun series was above the Terminator series, but under their Magnum and their Top of the Line (at the time) Oracle series. There is an Old Old shotgun series before they started adding the boxes to the cables. I hope this helps explain things a bit. Further, the term shotgun cable in common parlance refers to cables with one set of Plus Minus at the amplifier end and two pair at the speaker end creating separate paths for the High and the Low frequencies. That is the format for this pair of speaker cables. Now, why should you buy these? They are GOOD. Plain and simple. They are in fact, VERY GOOD and you may never see their like again. I MUST leave these behind as I cut what I own down to some number of suitcases and start my life again in another country. In fact my clock is ticking loudly as I kept my beloved stereo longer than I should have, Im leaving in 90 days. SO they are good and CHEAP if you can believe it _ this is a peek into the rarified atmosphere of crazy audiophiles. I know people who have spend enough to buy houses for a single room of stereo gear. Want a tase of that? Remember its just a link in the chain, they only report ALL of the signal between amp and speaker, no miracles and you MUST give them at LEAST 100 hours to come into their own - its kinds fun to hear that as it progresses :-)
