Heres the good and bad. System sounds amazing. Cd player works. Speakers sound great. Tuner works fine . All lights and buttons work. The faceplate on the tuner is sagging on one side as shown in pics. Does not affect functionality, but could use some attention if you want to make it near original. Also, I cannot get either Cassette player to work. They make noises like they are trying to work, but do not move. Cassette A has trouble with opening (eject) and needs assistance to do so. This can be used as is and not use cassette player, or be a project for someone who likes that sort of thing. The discoloration on speakers in photo is a lighting thing not how speakers look. This mini hi-fi system from Sony was purchased in 1990 for $1,100 and has rarely been used, but boy, oh boy, the sound that comes from this is so powerful and rich, wow! I forgot how amazing the sound is until I turned it on to record a video for this listing. I wished I had used it more often. I still have the original packaging, which has kept it well protected through several moves. The four components (radio/tuner, amplifier, dual cassette deck and CD player) can be stacked two-high or four-high, whichever you prefer. You can see from the third photo how this sat on a pedestal in my living room. See the last photo for the specifications page of the manual. This system has a highly sophisticated graphic equalizer. It also has recording/editing capabilities, tape dubbing between the two cassette players, microphone mixing and time-activated operations. IMPORTANT: WHEN I TURNED THIS ON TO TEST EVERYTHING, A CASSETTE TAPE SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN STUCK IN THE LEFT PLAYER. I am not an electronics guru by any stretch of the imagination, all I know is the eject button suddenly stopped working. I am sure if you are a stereo enthusiast, youll be able to figure it out, given it was fine just a couple months ago.
