These are digital active speakers, meaning they have built-in amplification and DACs, so you can connect them directly to a digital source (like a computer, digital streamer, or digital audio player, or ROON endpoint) and enjoy incredible sound. Why I’m Selling: I’ve owned these speakers for 10 years and enjoyed them immensely for listening to lossless audio in my home office and listening room. I’ve recently moved and these speakers are just too big for the new home. Sound Quality: The sound from these is exceptional. They are in fantastic working condition and have never had any malfunction in the 10 years I’ve been enjoying them. Cosmetically, they show some age. They have a few scuffs and light scratches that could probably be buffed out. The biggest issue are the vertical creases or cracks in the paint along the sides of both speakers (I can’t tell if there is separation on the surface of the paint or not. This seems to be a somewhat common issue with these speakers; I don’t know if the enclosure expands or contracts over time, of if the paint dries out, but I’ve seen it on several different speakers. I tried to capture it in the pictures best as possible, but the piano black finish actually hides it quite well. None of this has bothered me a bit since I only see the baffle while listening.
