This example of the Reference McIntosh Preamp/Processor held center stage in our Theatre Room 1 until recently being replaced by the MX-180... It is near perfect in every way and one of the most remarkable pieces in our entire ShowHome. There is simply nothing to compare with their best work in this category. Starting with the MX-150 in 2011, which quickly became our reference processor and continuing through to the current MX-180, the performance and flexibility in the MX line has been just superlative. Between the Room Perfect technology (a $4,500.00 separate piece from McIntosh!) which will dial in your room unlike anything Ive worked with, to the Dolby Atmos processing and all the reference level inputs and outputs, the MX-170 is simply in a league by itself. If you have been looking for a reference level preamp/processor (SSP) for your Home Theatre AND something to deliver incredible two-channel performance in a multi purpose room, then the MX-170 is probably unsurpassed with the exception of the current MX-180. With a new MX-180 selling for almost $19,000.00 (including sales tax) and often a 60-90 day wait time to get one, this example of the MX-170 just might be a bargain... and if theres any concern over its longevity, we are putting a one year parts & labor warranty on it and an extended warranty for up to 5 years can be purchased separately.
