I cant seem to get output through this unit, so working condition is suspect. Offered for repair or restoration. There is no remote control included. I forgot to take it when carrying this unit to my car. This pre-amp/tuner was the nucleus of a home theater system in an ultra-luxury home. When tested in the home I was able to change many of the parameters of the system. Surround sound, hall, stereo, etc. all worked including many of the inputs and multiple channels. I carefully, gently disconnected it from the other McIntosh components. I tested it on my system, and either I couldnt figure out how to use it, or it doesnt work anymore. The tuner pulls in a strong stereo signal, but I couldnt figure out how to attach an amplifier and get output. I even tried hooking up a CD player and couldnt seem to get output. I was able to get output in FM when attaching the RCA cables to all of the output jacks for different inputs, but the controls on the unit didnt affect the functions of the preamplifier. When disconnected from the original main system, there were some types of plugs that I didnt recognize. To be perfectly honest, this unit is well above my knowledge level. I pride myself on honesty, and I can state I dont know what I am doing when it comes to the modern sophistication of this unit. I am still stuck in the 1960s and 70s simple stereo systems. As far as cosmetics, this preamplifier / tuner is in excellent condition with no flaws to report. One of the lamps appear to be out on the latter part of the word McIntosh. Other than that, the unit is clean, including the face plate. Due to the inability to get this unit working again, it is offered for repair or restoration. The MX130, A/V Tuner Control Center is a full featured remote control center tor a complete Mclntosh Home Theater System. It provides six audio channels with the added features of video switching. The MX130 includes all the required Dolby Pro Logic™ decoding circuits to reproduce Dolby Surround™ encoded movie soundtracks. You also can enjoy the enhanced movie sound track reproduction possible from Home THX® Audio processing circuits by having your Mclntosh dealer install the optional Mclntosh THX-M Module in your MX130. The Home THX® Audio System is a licensing program of Lucasfilm Ltd., which defines new technologies and quality standards for accuracy in home theaters. The MX130 includes a built-in noise generator and the controls necessary for accurate volume level calibration of all six channels when setting up a home theater. The MX130 has the added feature of the Mclntosh designed HALL signal processing circuits. The HALL feature allows you to enhance the realism of two channel program sources such as a compact disc. The Left and Right signals are reproduced through the Left and Right Front loudspeakers. The same signals are combined and fed to the center channel loudspeaker as mono center fill. The combined left and right are also fed to a digital processor with variable time delay for the surround loudspeakers. If a subwoofer is used in the system, it will also operate in the HALL mode. The MX130 includes a 25-pin connector on the rear panel to fit a single subrniniature D computer type cable that fits a similar connector on a Mclntosh MC7106 six channel power amplifier. The RECORD signals are available at a pair of outputs marked AREA B OUT, and can be used for a remote area with its own dedicated power amplifier and pair of speakers. The desired program can be selected in Area B with the MX130 Hand Held Remote Controller transmitting to a wall mounted IR sensor, or from a WK-1 or WK-2 keypad. Data ports are provided for twelve audio and video remote controlled accessories. This feature allows you to control a compatible unit by transmitting with its hand held remote controller directly to a MX 130 sensor. McIntosh MX130 A/V Tuner Control Center Preamplifier - Preamp w/ Manual & Box Fully tested and 100% functional; although the MX130 is a bit dated when it comes to video capabilities, the audio section on this preamp/tuner is still very much desired. It was recently gone over by our tech. His notes are below. Note, the Mclntosh THX-M Module was not installed on this unit so THX audio is not possible.Cosmetically, it is overall very good with some wear on top. The digital tuner display is a bit cloudy from some internal dust. This is not really noticeable when the unit is on. Also, the bulb for the Sat input on both the Record and Listen sides of the display is a bit dimmer than the rest. Includes original manual and the original box. We are also including the remote. The remote does work, however some of the buttons really have to be pushed hard to get a reaction. Full specs are in the last three images. Unit powers on, screen and lights respond to all dials and buttons. Half the lights on face of unit are out. Inputs and outputs untested, but I would bet overall unit is in pretty decent shape.
