Mcintosh MCD-7000 CD Player. I purchased at an estate sale along with other Mcintosh equipment. The original owner said he had the player worked on but it still doesnt work as it should. I found it plays the discs sometimes. These are the problems I noticed: Sometimes it reads the disc, most times it doesnt. When it does work it sounds great for the first two or three tracks then it either stalls or the sound is very distorted. Sometimes pressing the function buttons does not give the expected result. This unit will need to be thoroughly worked on or used for parts. The physical condition of the unit is excellent. This McIntosh CD player looks pretty good for its age with minimal wear. The only significant blemish in on the back of one of the silver trim pieces (see picture), so its not really visible when looking at the machine from the front. Theres also some sort of which substance on the buttons (power, store, cancel, etc), but thatll clean up with a Q-Tip. When we first powered it up, the tray opened and closed perfectly. However, it did not read the CD. To complicate the matter, the tray will now not open at all. This unit is being sold as-is for parts or restoration.
