Up for sale is a FACTORY AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER REFURBISHED McIntosh MC 7205 five channel power amplifier. This unit was purchased from the original owner with three channels not working from a power surge. It was taken to Fort Worth Audio which is a McIntosh certified repair center. Fort Worth Audio has recently merged with Gunter TV and Appliance and is now called Gunther Audio and Video. The unit was completely gone through. Two of the PCBs had do be replaced along with one of the IC chips. All of the lamps were replaced and the glass and blue filters cleaned. The unit was extensively tested and checked to be in perfect operating condition. The cost of repairs exceeded $1000 and a copy of the repair receipt will be include with the sale of the amp. Cosmetically this amplifier is in excellent condition. The amp is free of scratches and marks of any kind. Please look carefully at all of the pictures and judge the condition for yourself. The only flaw I can find is some slight discoloration of the center meter. Look carefully at the pictures to judge the severity of this issue. I personally would never notice it if I werent looking for it. I dont have to tell you about the build or sound quality of this amp. It is considered a classic five channel amplifier. This battery of tests will usually reveal if the amplifier has any issues that need further attention. Before the device leaves the bench, we perform a listening test with actual music using a variety of preferred test tracks. Our benches are outfitted with familiar monitor speakers which help us identify inconsistencies that will not always show up on our test gear. The main things that we are listening for are hum or noise with no signal present, proper center image, clicks, pops, or any other obvious undesirable audio characteristics. If the unit passes all of these tests it is moved to our long term testing rig where we simulate real word operating conditions for 6-8 hours.
