Up for sale is this wonderful pair of McIntosh XR-16 Speakers! These are quite rare and you will likely not have another opportunity to purchase them. This pair has sequential serial numbers! Selling a set of the Legendary McIntosh XR16 Isoplanar Radiator System. McIntosh couldnt just call them loudspeakers. These are some of the nicest speakers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Very clear sound, great bass response, great high range. These speakers have a warm rich sound stage to complement their warm, gorgeous walnut finish. These are built to last. I am constantly impressed by the build quality and the sound.They have a low and high frequency fuse. Each driver is in its own nest, separate box, acoustically isolated. Inter-driver interference is virtually non-existent, as is cabinet resonance. The midrange is in its own box that is insulated, with its own hemispherical enclosure, which is also insulated and sealed with acoustic putty. I have had many pairs of JBL L100 speakers over the years and this pair of McIntosh XR-16s just stomps them on clarity, power, and quality. Anyone who says differently is doing something wrong.Lets be real here. Simply stated, anything that McIntosh creates sound great. This is the first of the XR series Isoplanar speakers to not require the MQ 102/102 equalizer. These audiophile XR16s speakers were designed by Roger Russell of McIntosh fame. There is a great picture of Roger testing his prototype XR16 in McIntoshs sound chamber. These speakers were the first to be built in McIntosh’s new anechoic chamber.These are one prior owner speakers. The original receipt shows a price of $2,942 including tax in 1983 dollars. Which would be $ 9.280.00 today. The real walnut wood veneer on both speakers is in beautiful shape as are the black grilles. Mcintosh C28 Preamplifier Switch Bank and Light Assembly. 100% functioning like it should. *According to Absolute Sound Labs in Minnesota these are extremely fiddly to install without damaging them. So for that reason there is absolutely no warranty expressed or implied. My recommendation is DO NOT buy this unless you have a highly skilled technician install it, and one that has experience doing this kind of repair. My feedback is 100% for more than 20yrs, so you can trust that this item is working perfectly and as it should, but out of fairness I can’t be responsible if it’s installed incorrectly or by someone without the appropriate experience. Here is a Custom Environmental Equalizer from McIntosh Laboratories in Binghamton, NY, Model Number MQ-104. I know nothing about this piece of stereo equipment other than what is written on the top. I have no instrumentation with which to test it, I have no stereo equipment to connect it to, and am not sure what I would be listening for if I did. I know this: the original owner lived in Scottsdale, AZ until his untimely death in 1992. His son inherited it from his father and gave it to me. I put it in a drawer and it has been there ever since. I do know that it has a relatively low serial number, AM1091, and from that I would assume that the exact date of manufacture could be deduced. Also, there is a number scrawled on the printed circuit board that may have some relevance. I have no paper work, no box, no sales receipt. Judging by other items he had I would say that it is 1970s vintage. His McIntosh Amplifier was a tube-type if that tells you anything. Low starting bid of 120.00 mainly because I see other Equalizers for 400-500 dollars, and I want to sell this unit to someone who appreciates it. Sold only to the lower 48 states, only. No P.O. This McIntosh MB50 Streaming Audio Player is in absolute minty fresh condish. I am the only owner having purchased it when it was released around 2018 from BB. This is an incredible sounding piece I used to play my Tidal streaming services. Its a great little unit that once setup is easy to play and sounds incredible. Im sure if you are looking at this and have read this far then you know all about it. I do encourage you to go look at the specs online. I baby my gear so the lucky person who gets this will be saving a ton! Of course, I will entertain reasonable offers. This was part of a complete McIntosh system that I setup that I am parting with. I listen to mostly records and cds so havent used this very much. I am also selling a couple of other companion McIntosh components so be sure to check out my other listings if you are interested. I purchased this in late 2023. I am selling my complete McIntosh stereo system, in components, so this item is included. Adding Bluetooth made my stereo system more approachable for my son and my family. It does have a feature called Low Latency / High Definition Preference Button, which set a preference for either Low Latency or High Definition. Receiver Mode: In Receiver Mode, the MB20 will send a received Bluetooth signal of ALL of these outputs: Analog Balanced XLR, Analog Unbalanced (RCA), Digital Coax and Digital Optical. Front Panel Button has a BLUE GLOW when in Receiver Mode. Transmitter Mode: In Transmitter Mode, the MB20 will take a signal from ONE of the inputs: Analog Balanced XLR, Analog Unbalanced (RCA), Digital Coax and Digital Optical, and send (transmit) the signal to a Bluetooth connected device.
