I have accumulated hundreds of pieces of audio equipment over the 40 years I serviced and restored. Some are being sold as is and other are being restored by me. In this case by my good friend. These are probably the nicest pieces of McIntosh equipment I have currently have(check out my other listings also, all restored) These are extremely rare, as McIntosh only sold these for about 18 months. They probably did it to try to compete with Heath and Dynaco kits popularity. It seems like the folks who could afford MC equipment werent interested in building kits. According to some sources many of the kits were built by McIntosh and sold as completed units. That said these have an interesting history. One of my good friends had one and I had one. Neither of us wold sell theirs to the other. I came across a gentleman who had new chassiss made and silk screened in the US and obtained a few from him. I gave one to my buddy for his Mackit and he rebuilt his and I waited on mine to find another one. Never did. Fast foreword a few years and I came across a pair of really ugly 30s. I traded them with 2 new chassiss to my buddy for his Mackit. He insisted that I let him rebuild mine so they would match, so another chassis and a month later I had a pair of new Mackits. I used them to biamp a set of JBL L200s for many years(with Carver 350 monoblocks driving the woofers) I have rebuilt the L 200s to L 300 specs and dont use the 30s anymore. Time for them to go to someone who can appreciate and treasure them. They have been completely rebuilt with all new electrolytics and film caps to replace any off value and leaky ones. He matched all the caps in both of these amps. He also rebuilt the bias network and replaced any off value resistors. They feature USA made reproduction chassiss with the correct silk screening. The transformers feature their original finish and the bases match very well. The feature good USA and European tubes and all test good. These are beautiful, they do have a little wear due to use but look like new. All that said, please look at all the pictures carefully and ask any questions you might have, because of the nature of tube equipment and the hassle it is to pack things like these, there will be no returns. Shipping is $124.95- for the pair. The tubes will be labeled as to the correct location and amp and will be shipped separately. This is via FED EX or Fed EX Home. I will not ship this via UPS or USPS.(Tubes will come via priority mail) If it ships for less than that I will refund the excess after packing costs. I also double box any item that has tubes or glass, or is particularly fragile. This adds to the cost, but helps make sure your item arrives to you in the SAME CONDITION it was shipped. Relisting as prior auction winner was a no-show Original owner. Purchased new about 20 years ago. I have the unit power cord and manuals I do not have the original box nor remote control. Not sure if it came with one. Have used it most of its life as a preamp as it has nice digital analog, converters and used volume adjustment through separate programmable remote control or via the knob directly on the unit. The lights in the panel need to be replaced to provide the green backlight for the McIntosh logos. The input selector knob is not functioning correctly. It works, and you can move it between the different inputs, but it jumps around and takes a little bit of finagling to get it on the exact input. I have not looked into the repair of this, and what that may entail. The physical volume knob on the unit works, and the volume goes up or down by four units on a scale to 100 with every click… Not sure if this is exactly normal but functions fine in that regard. Two scratches on the top portion of the bezel, which I have highlighted in the pictures. Overall though excellent cosmetic and physical condition aside from this. I’ve only used it with one input as a music streamer, (or CD player /transport at one point in time ) and always had a separate universal remote so none of these issues bother me. I upgraded to a new unit to support a turntable and I’m looking for this one to go to a new home. I am asking for local pick up as package and shipping would be quite expensive (~$100+ to have this packaged up and sent out) however, if someone really wants that I will consider it passing on the costs to the buyer.
