  • Description

McIntosh MCC446 6 channel amplifier in great condition. I have personally bench tested this amplifier and checked all 6 channels for proper operation. Works great, sounds amazing, as you would expect a McIntosh amplifier to sound! I personally own a few McIntosh vintage tube Amplifiers, and pre-amp. So I know what their quality and sound are all about. I have been in the audio electronics service industry for over 40 years. So I am very familiar with bench testing units such as this. Its listed as parts not working because I dont accept returns on vintage electronics and the parts changers out there and other various clowns... If you cant understand that, dont complain, just dont bid... These are toys for big boys! Not people who want to try them out and decide if they want it or not too. As a side note, not that it really matters, but this amplifier was removed from the trunk of a high end supercharged European car that was owned by a current Hollywood movie star / comedian. It had a blown engine and was being sent to the wrecking yard, believe it or not! The repair shop owner, the car was sitting at is a friend of mine. Luckily just by chance I asked him whats the deal with that white supercharged car with no plates on it? Is it for sale? He said no, actually its owned by (name withheld but I will share that with the buyer). The movie studio gave the car to him as a gift for his successful movie and he at a later date gave it to his mother as a gift. Talk about a re-gifter! LoL She used it for many years and the timing chain locked up and bent a few valves, and so on. Its going to the wrecking yard, flatbed is coming in about an hour for it. My friend then said there is a amplifier in the trunk of you want it you can have it. I was almost not even going to look because I figured its not really my thing anymore (car stereo) and its probably nothing that special. But when I opened the trunk I nearly passed out. Even with being in the business as long as I have and owning McIntosh home equipment. I knew they made a few car amplifiers and I saw pictures of them. But I had never seen one in front of me. So I got right to work removing the amplifier board which had a active crossover mounted on it as well. Unfortunately what ever head unit was in the car, was already gone. The active crossover is another item I am listing in another auction. Please look at that if you wish. My best guess is it must be an engineering unit or pre-production unit from a high end car audio manufacturer. The metal work looks to me to be just like the old Fosgate equipment. Before it became Rockford Fosgate! There are no names anywhere on the crossover or its circuit boards. It has a clear plexiglass top and the markings by some of the RCA connectors are just painted on numbers. Very very odd and very very older high end build. I dont know if it was a one-off design. Or like I said and engineering department unit as a early unit before they went into production? I have no idea. But it seems to work as well. LEDs came on. I passed audio through it. Had full range on two RCA outputs. High frequency output on another two RCAs and nothing on the remaining RCAs, I dont know the rest of the connections. No further testing was done. But it works to that level for sure!
