This SMc Audio DNA-1 is in good condition and sounds fantastic. Comes with power cord. If you clicked on this listing you know this Steve McCormack designed amplfier has a cult following.Offered here with No Reserve so If you have been looking for a bargain - this is it. This particular SMc Badged DNA-1 looks to have come from Steves current shop where he does upgrades for the older DNA-1 that came from his prior company - McCormack Audio Based on the hand written note on the back of the amp it appears this unit recieved SMc Audios Ultra Platinum upgrade in 2017. Note - at some point Steve made very user system specific mods for his upgrades. Probably the only way to ID exactly what this DNA-1 upgrade package included would be to interact directly with Steve. But what we can deduce from this amps markings is it received the top tier uprgade he offered at the time. Amplifier has Limited Anniversary Edition boards and chassis with Cardas binding posts. Powerful amplifier and functions as new. I used both single-ended and balances and had switches added on the back to switch between the two. From the factory you needed to open the top and move jumpers. Jumpers are in plastic bag inside the unit and can be placed back if desired. Right hand side has cosmetic damage as shown in the images. Selling my McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe Rev A amp. This was upgraded in 1998 by Steve McCormack and was their best upgrade at the time. Purchased this a few years back from a member on USAM. It had been completely looked over and given a clean bill of health by his technician. It sounds absolutely fantastic and has been in my main setup ever since. Functions exactly as it should. Im only selling this to pay off bills. Best sounding amplifier Ive ever owned. Cosmetically- It has a few small white spots on the front face plate. The front bottom right corner has a ding on the front face plate. Pics included. Theres a few minor scuffs here and there, mostly on the top cover, but overall, it presents itself very nicely. The very back of the amp on the bottom right, 2 heatsink fins were slightly bent when it was shipped to me. I took a pic of this. Its cosmetic and you cant see it unless you look behind and beneath the amp. This will be double boxed and packed very well from me. I dont skimp on packaging. I will make sure its insured as well. Here for sale is a McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe Edition amplifier. It was sent in to SMc Audio in October of 2003 and received the Rev B+ upgrade. Since then it has developed signs of imminent main board failure. One of the LEDs in the voltage regulation circuit no longer illuminates. We have been informed that this indicates that flaws in the original manufacturing process of the main board are beginning to show and this amplifier will eventually develop major issues that stop it from functioning properly. We set up the amp for a short term bench test to assess its current functional condition. The unit fundamentally works, producing approx. 160W per channel before clipping into 8 ohms, both channels driven. It also passed a basic audio check. In short, this amp fundamentally works. The output boards and transistors seem to be intact based on the output power testing. We are selling this amp AS IS for Parts or Repair ONLY. It is not recommended that this device be put into use before it has received the proper upgrades to the main board. SMc audio still offers board replacement services for this model. Please investigate the expected service costs for this device before bidding/buying. We are selling this unit as a NON WORKING amplifier.
