Up for auction is a pair of Mcintosh MC30 amplifiers from the late 1950s / early 1960s. These have been fully electronically restored by Audio Classics in Vestal, NY. The amps are from slightly different series, but are identically electronically and sonically. MC30s are best known for their tube rectification and sound incredible with a wide array of speakers. The chassis are in original condition with some pitting, worn lettering and scuffs along the bottom - but all consistent with age. As you can see the electronic components have been completely updated. These 30WPC amps will come with a nice complement of low-hour vintage tubes. The power tubes are re-issue Sovteks which are a nice mating with these. Everything works. Service was performed less than a year ago and amps have about 25 hours on them since. All paperwork from servicing will be included with purchase. Im selling because I bought an MC225 and dont need all of the amps. The amps are very securely packaged for shipping in two Audio Classics boxes. The amps are bolted down to a piece of plywood and then nested in heavy duty double-boxes with corner reinforcements. McIntosh A-116 Amplifier Mono Block Amp First although listed as for parts, it has been in storage for years, and was originally ordered to be used in a Herman Miller ESU storage unit. It was probably used very little, and we have only listed it as for parts for Ebay return reasons, but it is probably in original working condition. It is a 30 watt mono amplifier intended for use with McIntoshs C-8, C-4, C104, or C-108 preamplifiers and was accordingly fitted with an octal socket which supplied power to these units. It could, however be used with other independently powered control units. (Today many people buy two and make them into wonderful stereo systems.) The original A-116 was replaced by the A-116B in 1954 which was more commonly known as the MC-30. Frequency response was 20-30kHz (±0.1dB) and distortion quite low at 0.5%. Two 6BG6/1614 output tubes gave 30 watts continuous power. In 1955 is sold for 143 dollars!
