Beautiful, Fully Serviced Mcintosh MC2200 Power Amplifier, with McIntosh Cosmetic Description: 8.5/10 The Power Amp is in excellent cosmetic condition with little visible cosmetic wear. There is a small nick on the front faceplate, in the upper right corner (please see the photos as they are the best description) and the Power Guard switch is stuck in the Normal position. The McIntosh Walnut Cabinet has a couple of light marks on the left side but is otherwise beautiful. It is in outstanding condition for nearly 50 years old. Overall - the cosmetic condition will please even the most discerning audiophile. Service Work / Operation: (10/10)***: While we don't know all of the service history on this unit, it appears to have been refreshed about 6 or 7 years ago. Without opening up the unit completely and checking every part on every board, the extent of that work is impossible to know. It appears to have had a conservative refresh, replacing what needed to be replaced - not a restoration. The Filter Caps are High Quality Cornell-Dubilier USA Made. It was just completely checked, cleaned, serviced and bench tested for 48 hours at Stereo Fixers, Inc. in Boca Raton, FL - a McIntosh Specialist. It performed flawlessly. If you're not familiar with this particular McIntosh Power Amp, here is some additional information we were able to gather from the internet: The McIntosh Mc2200 is a Stereo Power Amplifier with a unique power guard circuit, equivalent to the MC2205 (without power meters.) Distortion is eliminated by using a low-noise monolithic transistor differential amplifier at the input side of the power amplifier circuit, which provides both input and feedback signals. The next stage circuit is a voltage amplifier circuit with Class-A operation. The driver circuit and complimentary service circuit are designed to operate close to Class-A to reduce crossover distortion. The circuit is always designed to be moderately biased against changes in temperature. The power transistor is Class AB operation and the bias current is secured by a thermistor. The output-stage employs a single-ended para-push method and consists of six highly reliable complimentary service power transistors. Since this circuit is a balanced emitter-follower connection, it has outstanding stability and low distortion. Moreover, the unique output-bias circuit realizes Class B operation without crossover distortion. The output signal of the MC2200 passes through an output transformer, which is designed to match the output terminal of any impedance so that the maximum output is obtained for all frequency signals regardless of the output terminal. This transformer also protects the speakers in the event of an amplifier failure. When a DC component is mixed into the output, the transformer eliminates the component and prevents damage to the speakers. To prevent overloading of the output transistor, the output signal is always monitored by a McIntosh proprietary monitoring circuit. This circuit becomes high impedance when the output level exceeds the rated value, but this has no effect on the output. When the output reaches its maximum value, the monitoring circuit limits the signal supplied to the output transistor to prevent shorting of the output of the amplifier or damage to the output transistor. This monitoring circuit monitors the plus and minus sides of the output signal separately. In order to improve the stability and sound quality of reproduced sound, it is equipped with a Power Guard System*** which is a unique new circuit. In this circuit, the Normal (green) and Limit (red) lamps on the front panel are operated by a waveform comparison circuit unique to McIntosh. This circuit electrically compares the output waveform with the input waveform, and when the difference between them becomes 0.5%, the Limit lamp turns on and the Normal lamp turns off. When the difference reaches 1%, the Power Guard Circuit operates to prevent clipping of the amplifier preventing distortion from being reproduced from the speaker, while at the same time protecting the speaker. In this case, the amplifier still exhibits the rated maximum output. The input waveform and the output waveform are compared by an IC differential amplifier, and the waveform difference due to distortion of the output waveform is converted into a voltage. This voltage is amplified approximately 100 times supplied to a Schmidt Trigger Circuit through a full-wave rectifier circuit. The Limit Lamp also lights up when the amp is overloaded. Even if the overload condition is very short, the lamp remains on for a period of time that is sufficiently visible. In this case, the meter displays less than 200W. Again, the voltage obtained from the waveform difference is used. If the voltage becomes higher than the level that turns on the Limit Lamp, the Power Guard Circuit is activated. When using a Power Guard Circuit, set the power guard switch on the rear panel to the Normal Position. When this switch is in the out position, only the Limit Lamp operates. This is a pending sale. McIntosh MX-150 / 151 A/V Control Center. Upgraded the firmware via USB to MX151. I do not have an amplifier to support this so I have no way of checking it fully. I hooked up a two channel amplifier and it does produce sound in each channel but I have no way of testing it fully. I am selling AS IS. It comes with universal remote built for the McIntosh MX150 and a copy of the owners manual. Howdy, Offered for auction are a pair of McIntosh MT_150 tweeters. These were spares from a restoration I made of my speakers. Both work, but note: They are NOT MATCHED, they are of different manufacture and vintage. The coils are intact and measure about 9.8-10 Ohms. The cones are intact and undamaged. Please look at the photos carefully and bid accordingly, and make sure they are right for your model and vintage speaker. These came from a McIntosh ML-1C, and I think they are also used in the ML-2C, possibly the ML-4C. They are sold AS IS, NO RETURNS. Im a small time hobbyist, so I cant afford to take these back. Shipping is going to be for 6 lbs from 22903, insured, with delivery confirmation. The delivery confirmation will be used to verify receipt of the package, so please do not have me ship to an address that is prone to porch pirates. I purchased this pre/pro from an authorized McIntosh dealer in 2018. It was traded in by the original owner who upgraded to an MX-160. I used it for about a year and loved it. I then boxed it up when I moved and its been packed up ever since, as has the rest of my theater gear. I will eventually get the theater room in my new house up and running, but until then, theres no point in hanging onto this pre/pro any longer as I plan to eventually get one with 4K and Atmos capabilities. I unboxed it the other day, hooked it up, and it works like new. Its in excellent condition with 2 tiny knicks, 1 on the top edge of the front panel and one on the top, left, rear edge of the case (see pics below). The remote works perfectly, but unfortunately, as with many of these type remotes, it suffers from the sticky rubberized casing problem that occurs over time. Other than on a couple occasions when I first got it, I never even used the remote. I controlled it with a URC universal remote and for setup configuration stuff, I used the network connection and my laptop to access the McIntosh interface. It currently has the MX-151 firmware loaded onto it (see pics below for exact firmware version) and is identical to an MX-151 in function and performance. I performed a factory reset to clear out all of my personal settings, so its ready to go for the new owner to configure as he/she sees fit. Included in the sale is the MX-150, remote, power cord, owners manual, setup mic and mic stand, and original double box/packing. I will add some additional packing material in the inner and outer boxes in hopes of minimizing the chance of any damage in shipping. My home is smoke free as was the previous owners.
