This came out of a Yale professor’s apartment, where it was originally custom mounted into the wall. This amp just came back from the stereo repair shop and it’s READY TO GO! As you can see in the pictures, this amp shows minimal aging, the black metal is clean, the chrome is not pitting. And the glass is not cracked ! The only minor blemish on the front face are the printed “on/off” lettering , slightly worn. This integrated amp/preamp will ship double boxed and well padded. It will ship by FED EX. It was just inspected and here is the list of what service the amp has recently received: •Repaired function switch •cleaned and lubricated all controls and selectors •cleaned corrosion from under chassis •replaced dial lamps •checked and set voltages

Beim letzten anschlieen kam etwas Rauch aus dem Lautsprecher Anschluss kam wohl versehentlich ein Lautsprecherkabel am Gert.Das Gert wurde sofort vom Strom genommen ob er wirklich defekt ist kann ich noch nicht mal sagen.Da das Gert ein 110 Volt Verstrker ist und ich kein Netzteil mehr habe mchte ich es auch nicht mehr versuchen.Desweiteren ist in der Glasscheibe auf der rechten Seite ein Sprung.Vorher bei meinem Sohn hat er fantastisch gespielt.Ich denke mal die davon was verstehen kriegen das Ding wieder hin.Im brigen sind die Anschlsse hinten angelaufen kommt wohl vom langenrumstehen.Ansonsten Garantie und Umtausch schliee ich natrlich aus ist ja nicht mehr der neuste Verstrker.

Heres a McIntosh MA-5100 stereo preamp - amplifier. Nice case, nice glass, and it works (as you can see and hear in the video Ive posted above), but I dont think its ever been serviced, so its being offered for parts or restoration. Cosmetic condition is above average, and sonically the amp checks out okay, with quiet controls that seem to be functioning properly. The amp was removed from the in-wall system of a record collector who moved into an assisted living facility a few years ago. He was the original owner, and I doubt he kept it up to date, because its sealed up tight, with the original factory tabs still in place on the metal case. The amp comes with its original owners manual and its original warranty card, which as you can see was never filled out and returned to the factory. Although the amp works, it will likely need to be updated electrically if you want to bring it back to factory spec. I dont know what -- if anything -- will be required to do that, nor do I have the instrumentation here to measure exactly how its performing right now. To my ears, it sounds fine. To your ears, it may leave something to desired. Its more than 50 years old, so its almost a certainty that some of the caps and resistors will need to be changed out for optimal performance. The right side speaker connection terminals are a bit wonky (I think a solder connection to the terminal post is weak), and you need to make sure not to torque down the screws too hard when you connect the speaker. So...nice amp overall, buts its being offered as is, likely in need of updating, and with all the caveats youd expect for an unrestored piece of electronic gear thats a half century old. If youre looking for a mint, fully-serviced 5100 that performs exactly like it did when it was new, this is not it, and you should look elsewhere. Please review all the pictures, and consider them an integral part of the description. Thats about it. I will package the amp properly so that it arrives at your doorstep safely. Ive been shipping fragile technical antiques for more than 30 years, and I know how to do it correctly. Reconditioned! McIntosh MA 5100 Preamplifier-Amplifier! This amplifier has been fully cleaned and tested! Works beautifully! All pots and switches have been deoxidized allowing for smooth and crackle free adjustments! All out of spec capacitors/resistors have been replaced! There is a small chip on the right of the dial glass. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Absolutely stunning condition. Wood.case is perfect, display is mint as well. It has never been opened. I purchased this from an estate. It powers up and tried to test it, but I am not very familiar with these units. I hooked a turntable up to it and could not get it to produce sound. Not sure I hooked it up correctly. I am sure it needs service or some type of minor repair. Nice example!
