I wish I had a lot of current use observations and thoughts to share about this vintage low mass 70s tonearm, but unfortunately this is going to be a time capsule purchase. When I replaced this legendary uni-pivot gem around 40 years ago with a Signature Grado tonearm I aspired of installing it in a second turntable. Instead, I still use the same exact TT and Grado tonearm, and the Formula 4 has sat undisturbed on the top shelf of a climate-controlled closet in our home ever since. I do recall the tonearm sounding outstanding, natural & open with most any cartridge I used I think mostly due to its damped unipivot arm and its superb tracking (note that the installed free Nagatron 380CE cartridge was working when I put this away). It was not a tonearm for beginners though, I also recall, taking some patience and skill to set up, but it was well worth it in the end. Comes with original box, instructions, mounting template, alignment protractor, silicone fluid, and accessories. I likely won’t be able to answer any technical questions but Im happy to take additional photos if required or answer general questions about visual condition.
