The SR8012 was probably the world's finest AVR in 2017 and 18, and maybe even 19. How do I know this? Simple: I've been in the AV industry for 40 years. Manufacturing, Wholesale, Retail. I know this industry and its products backwards and forwards. This unit is exactly 5 years old and it sounds as great as day 1. Its SUPERB with music in 2.2 mode, and its SUPERB with TV and movies in 5.2 mode. I have the original box and all the original accessories, and I can prove that its EXACTLY 5 years old. If memory serves, it was $3500.00 MSRP back in 2017/18/19. Buyer pays shipping. You can see from the AC Infinity Cooler above it, that the unit has been kept cool since day 1. Never once been scary hot or overheated! This logic controlled AC Infinity Fan would never allow that. If you live a reasonable distance from Fort Worth TX, you can pick it up. This AVR packs a punch and has tons of power! It uses the same power supply as its predecessor the SR8015 and even carried over for the latest 2024 model - Cinema 30. What this unit doesnt have that those units do, is eARC built in or the updated video processing to support 4k/120hz for gaming or HDR10+ content. If you have a Samsung TV like myself, the eARC audio extractor device is needed to retain HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos support. I use the 4K Amazon Fire TV stick and with this device Im able to stream HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos (pic 13). The only downside is that you have to manually push the eARC button on the device, because it will power off when the TV shuts off. This device isnt needed if your TV supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which is the case for most of the other TV brands. If you want to retain 4k/120hz for gaming, you cannot do HDMI pass-through on this unit. Like my PS5 setup you have use TV audio using a optical cable and set the game system to only output as PCM (pic 14). If you try to use Dolby Digital or Dolby Atmos while gaming you will notice an obvious lag in the audio. This AVR packs a punch and has tons of power! It uses the same power supply as its predecessor the SR8015 and even carried over for the latest 2024 model - Cinema 30. What this unit doesnt have that those units do, is eARC built in or the updated video processing to support 4k/120hz for gaming or HDR10+ content. If you have a Samsung TV like myself, the eARC audio extractor device is needed to retain HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos support. I use the 4K Amazon Fire TV stick and with this device Im able to stream HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos. The only downside is that you have to manually push the eARC button on the device, because it will power off when the TV shuts off. This device isnt needed if your TV supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which is the case for most of the other TV brands. If you want to retain 4k/120hz for gaming, you cannot do HDMI pass-through on this unit. Like my PS5 setup you have use TV audio using a optical cable and set the game system to only output as PCM.
