Marantz SD 6000 2 Speed Cassette Deck This Marantz SD 6000 is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B noise reduction, it was first sold by Marantz in 1979 with a recommended retail price of USD $565 and discontinued 2 years later in 1981. The main features of the Marantz SD 6000 are: 2 heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter and memory stop, manual tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome, ferro-chrome and metal tapes, belt driven single-capstan transport. Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed directly over the head block. Additionally the heads can be easily accessed for cleaning. Level meters used on the SD 6000 are generic digital peak reading meters with multi-color indication to provide visual saturation level of tape. Full-logic transport controls used on the SD 6000 let it respond to the slightest finger contact for fast and effortless transport function selection. 9.5 cm/s faster recording/playback speed used in the SD 6000 offers extended frequency response, increased dynamic range and transient response. Marantz SD6000 2 Speed Cassette Deck. This is a nice, clean unit, that powers up and all lights, knobs, and switches appear to function well, however the tape player does not spin in play, fast forward, or reverse. It could be a simple belt fix, but I’m not an audio technician and this deck is being sold as is and for parts only. Good luck!
