This is a non working Madrigal Carnegie 2 moving coil phono cartridge. It appears missing the tip on the end of the cantilever, and does not track records. I recently checked with one very reputable cartridge repair company and was quoted $350 for a retip, and $450 if the entire cantilever and tip had to be replaced. Of course, if you have technical skills and abilities to diy, then all the better. This cartridge is still extremely highly regarded and sought after, so hopefully it can find a new home. Again, it is being sold for parts only, and I don’t know or can guarantee whether it needs additional restoration as well.

It took a bit of internet sleuthing to work out what this mystery cartridge was. I could tell by the beautifully finished body that it was something classy but all I had was the letter M.... Anyway, the cantilever is straight and the tip looks good. I was able to get a reading for both channels but I cant swear to the accuracy of the left channel because there was nothing to clamp the croc clips onto. I got a reading, thats something. It comes as shown, three pins, no packaging, no stylus guard, nothing you cant see. The former owner was a hi-fi dealer, this was in his duff cartridges box.
