Luxman L55A Integrated high end amplifier, 160 Watts, Recapped/Serviced, READ!!!See pictures for the exact cosmetic condition of the amplifier. Beautiful amplifier made by luxman. I bought this for personal use but when put in use I noticed that the right channel had a noisy transistor. I isolated this issue to the power amp board and I ordered new output transistors since I noticed they had been replaced. The originals are two pairs of 2SA1106/2SC2581. I planned to order a pair of NJW1302G/NJW3281G from mouser as the original sanken pairs are no longer produced and hard to find originals of. I ended up making a mistake and ordering a pair of 281/3281 instead which is basically the same transistor twice. As such I have only replaced the 2sc2581 replacements while the used replacements for the a1106 are still in place. While ordering another pair of transistors would not be an issue I noticed that the right channel bias adjustment does not seem to work. When measuring the voltage over the emitters of the respective transistor pair the left channel voltage changes when the potentiometer is turned. The right channel is at a constant +-1.5mv and does not change. I am able to get the dc offset calibrated for both channels but I do not know what the other 2 potentiometers are for, I assume some sort of distortion control but the service manual is very scarce... Because of the issue with the bias control as well as the prior service work and recap I believe it would be better to get this amplifier to someone that knows more about this than I do. I made a thread on audiokarma as well regarding this amplifier if you wish to have some more indepth information. It is being sold as parts or repair to avoid any responsibility in the case of something else coming up, however I have tried to be as upfront as possible with both the info shared and the pictures. As such, please be very mindful of the condition as is described here in the description.
