This is a listing for a renowned LUX control amplifier (preamp). It was sold as LUXKIT (A2012) for 88,000 yen and as a completed LUXMAN C-12 for 125,000 yen. No electrolytic capacitors have been used in areas related to the sound path. This model received high praise from audio critics. While the Yamaha C-2 series also produces great sound, it has an analytical listening style which can be slightly tiring over long periods. This amplifier provides a musical listening experience with a sound quality close to that of vacuum tubes. Dimensions: Width 438mm x Height 78mm x Depth 363mm. Weight: 6.5 kg. Purchased as a non-operational unit and repaired. There was no sound output, and the INPUT selectors rotary switch was completely stuck. The power cord had tears in its insulation. The rotary switch was removed and serviced. Corrosion and damage repair on the printed circuit board, with bypass wiring and re-soldering. All electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section were replaced (9 pcs). The largest ones, 50v1500?F×2, were upgraded to 50v3300?F×2. The damaged section of the power cord was cut and reattached, making it about 30cm shorter at 140cm. Volume and balance had some static due to the units long disuse, but these were improved. The attenuate switch has poor contact, but the off is working normally, so there is no issue with regular use. The transistors have not been replaced to avoid changes in the sound quality. RCA terminals were polished and cleaned. Complex cleaning of the panel, knobs, and levers. Operational verification was conducted (5 hours of continuous operation x 2). Tested with CD and analog (record) on MM settings. No particular issues were found. REC functionality was not tested.
