I have completely dismantled this turntable and then either replaced or meticulously cleaned and reconditioned every component as it was rebuilt. Rest assured, I have rebuilt dozens of Linn Sondek LP12 turntables over the years with excellent results and every new owner has been very pleased - I only recently began selling them on eBay, however. Product Description: The plinth is an original Linn plinth (S/N: 60684) constructed from Afromosia hardwood and has that classic Linn fluted finish. It is corner braced, perfectly square and level, and presents in stellar condition. The top-plate is the original Linn one matched to the plinth which has been carefully cleaned and reinstalled using brand-new washers and nyloc nuts. The sub-chassis is a genuine Linn bonded model which has been thoroughly checked to ensure no warping, carefully cleaned, and re-fit to the plinth also using brand-new hardware. It has the superior Linn Cirkus bearing which has been carefully cleaned and was found to be in excellent condition. It comes with the matching Linn inner platter and a beautifully cleaned Linn outer platter. In addition, a genuine and brand-new Linn felt mat is included. The tonearm is a genuine Linn Ittok LVII which easily passes the swing and bob tests confirming the horizontal and vertical bearings are in excellent shape while the head-shell presents in fine condition. The armrest is also in excellent condition. The tonearm cable is also an original Linn T-cable in excellent condition. I have given it more protection from RF interference using a braided covering and it includes genuine Linn 24k gold-plated RCA plugs. In addition, the tonearm board is a recent Linn model in excellent condition. As for the mechanics, the springs and grommets are genuine Linn and brand-new while the motor is a brand-new Linn Premotec model which will provide years of trouble-free service. The mudguard washers and aerotight lock nuts have been replaced with brand-new and the ground wire (earth cable) is also a genuine Linn one. I also have supplied a brand-new Linn belt and a vial of spare Linn oil is provided for the bearing. The power supply has been upgraded to a genuine Linn Lingo 1 which is in excellent condition. The Lingo 1 allows any A/C power noise to be moved outside the turntable chassis and not interfere with the tonearm signal. It also offers the convenience of 33.3 or 45 RPM speed selection at the push of a button. It supports 110v to function in North America and the original Linn power cable is also included. The lid (dustcover) is genuine and brand-new as supplied by Linn and comes complete with brand-new Linn hinges. The base is a genuine and brand-new Linn aluminum baseboard which allows access to the tonearm cable plug. It includes a set of genuine Linn vibration isolation feet. Setup and Instructions: To help if you are new to the world of Linn LP12s, I supply instruction to assist in set-up and, while the bearing will be lubricated with brand-new Linn oil and a vial of spare Linn oil will be provided, instructions will also be provided as to how the confirm the oil level prior to use. An LP12 is extremely unlikely to work and performperfectly after that long in hibernation, which is why all of my turntables arecompletely stripped, cleaned, oiled/varnished/painted as required and thenrebuilt using the original Linn parts, where they are sound, or replacementparts, if they are needed. Finally, they are rebuilt on a Linn Jig and then expertlyset up and tested before being put up for sale. You may pay a little extra for one of my turntables, butin life, you generally get what you pay for. And what you are getting here is adeck that is in a condition not too unlike it left the factory and it is likelyto give you years of great service. If it doesn’t, you can come back to me. There are cheaper ones out there, certainly, but if youbuy a cheap deck, not only will you probably not experience the full, true,legendary Linn sound, but you may also end up splashing out a lot of cashputting a 40 year old deck right, if it’s had a hard life. I do offer a restoration service on these decks and thetypical cost of putting a bad deck right is usually around £500. Similarly, if you could see some of the cartridges thatcome fitted to some of the decks that I buy in, you wouldn’t risk your recordcollection on it! To make sure that your records stay safe, I have fitted abrand new AT VM95E cartridge and stylus – so, you can play your cherished vinylwith confidence. As well as every component being thoroughly checked, allof my decks are sold with fresh Linn oil, new belts, new springs, new or serviceablehinges and the suspended chassis will have been finely tuned to bounceperfectly. Naturally, they are all tested too and they won’t leavehere unless they function perfectly and sound great. Indeed, it will be allready to plug into your system and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I can swap the power supply to a variety of alternativesthat will give you 45 rpm capability - again just ask. I always carry healthystocks of : Lingo 1, Lingo 4, Hercules or Radikal power supplies and so weshould be able to provide what you want. I’ll even fit your own parts if you wanted to specify andsupply your own arm or cartridge. I cannot stress enough the benefits of collecting yourturntable in person - if at all possible. If you collect in person, you can seeit, I can demonstrate the deck, you can if you wish listen to it and everythingwill be set up and ‘ready to go’ - indeed, with just a few basic deconstructsto enable you to get it home safely, you’ll be in business when you get homeinside 2 minutes. I make no apologies for choosing to not to ‘post’turntables. They regularly get damaged to some degree with standard couriersand it isn’t always easy for me to resolve issues at a distance. Let’s face it, if you’re spending this amount on aprecision instrument you owe it yourself to either pick it up or to have itsafely delivered to you. To assist, if you are within a reasonable distance, Imight be prepared to deliver it to you, meet you ‘halfway’ (or partway!) for anagreed charge.
