Buying an LP12 second hand can be like swimming in sharkinfested waters. Many that appear on here have been in somebody’s loft for 30years and then somebody finds them and puts them straight on ebay! An LP12 is extremely unlikely to work and perform perfectly after that long in hibernation, which is why all of my turntables are completely stripped, cleaned, oiled/varnished/painted as required and then rebuilt using the original Linn parts, where they are sound, or replacementparts, if they are needed. Finally, they are rebuilt on a Linn Jig and then expertlyset up and tested before being put up for sale. You may pay a little extra for one of my turntables, but in life, you generally get what you pay for. And what you are getting here is a deck that is in a condition not too unlike it left the factory and it is likely to give you years of great service. If it doesn’t, you can come back to me. There are cheaper ones out there, certainly, but if you buy a cheap deck, not only will you probably not experience the full, true, legendary Linn sound, but you may also end up splashing out a lot of cash putting a 40 year old deck right, if it’s had a hard life. I do offer a restoration service on these decks and the typical cost of putting a bad deck right is usually around £500. Similarly, if you could see some of the cartridges that come fitted to some of the decks that I buy in, you wouldn’t risk your record collection on it! To make sure that your records stay safe, I have fitted a low hours Grado Prestige Gold cartridge, from my personal collection – so, you can play your cherished vinyl with confidence. As well as every component being thoroughly checked, all of my decks are sold with fresh Linn oil, new belts, new springs, new or serviceable hinges and the suspended chassis will have been finely tuned to bounce perfectly. Naturally, they are all tested too and they won’t leave here unless they function perfectly and sound great. Indeed, it will be all ready to plug into your system and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Finally, if you need any more convincing, then please do check out my feedback, you’ll see that people absolutely love the decks that I build and restore and are highly complimentary of both the product and theservice that they receive. UPGRADES As you can see, it is already a nice specification but I’ll be happy to upgrade it even further for you to a variety of specifications if youmessage me (obviously at additional cost). I can change the arm or the cartridge - I have several arms and a supply of new and used cartridges in stock, but I can get just aboutanything you might want ordered in within a couple of days. I can swap the power supply to a variety of alternativesthat will give you 45 rpm capability - again just ask. I always carry healthystocks of : Lingo 1, Lingo 4 or Radikal power supplies and so we should be able to provide what you want. I’ll even fit your own parts if you wanted to specify andsupply your own arm or cartridge. HELP BUILDING A FULL SYSTEM If you are looking to build a full system, eitherlavishly or on a budget around an LP12, I can also help you with that, eitherfrom my collection or by sourcing items for you - new or used. I can also, subject to distance and availability, deliver and install systems for an additional cost. GETTING YOUR TURNTABLE – how come you won’t postturntables? I cannot stress enough the benefits of collecting yourturntable in person - if at all possible. If you collect in person, you can see it, I can demonstrate the deck, you can if you wish listen to it and everythingwill be set up and ‘ready to go’ - indeed, with just a few basic deconstructs to enable you to get it home safely, you’ll be in business when you get homeinside 2 minutes. I make no apologies for choosing to not to ‘post turntables. They regularly get damaged to some degree with standard couriers and it isn’t always easy for me to resolve issues at a distance. Let’s face it, if you’re spending this amount on a precision instrument you owe it yourself to either pick it up or to have it safely delivered to you. To assist, if you are within a reasonable distance, Imight be prepared to deliver it to you, meet you ‘halfway’ (or partway!) for an agreed charge. If distance / lack of transport puts collection completely out of the question, I do have a couple of contacts for ‘specialist’ couriers, who will for a price, collect the deck from me and deliver it straight to you - no hubs, no depots, no mistreatment - they are more expensive than parcelforce obviously, but I have used them very successfully to the complete satisfaction of all involved several times. By all means contact me for more information. I also buy Linn Turntables, so, if you have a Linn Sondek LP12, Axis or Basik you’re considering selling - working or not, message me - I’ll offer you a fair price based upon its specification and condition and will, where possible, collect in person. Similarly, if you have any spare parts, perhaps from past upgrades, I'm always ready to buy!
