Black For your consideration is an excellent sounding and looking Krell Home Theater Standard HTS 7.1 Preamp/Processor. This unit is in great shape as you can see from the pictures (sorry for some reflections and shadows). I love this unit so much I actually personally owned two of them. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION FOR CONDITION AND ACCESSORIES INCLUDED. I always felt the HTS 7.1 as a used unit is one of the great bargains in audio. The original price was $8,000.00. Since it does not have hdmi they have dropped in price much more than a typical audiophile two channel pre-amp would. However if you read the reviews, the HTS 7.1 draws from the technology of the legendary Krell KCT preamp - and by several reviewers comes very close to the performance of the KCT in analog Preamp mode. I used these in systems with Pass Labs and Focal Utopia speakers and it performed quite well. A used KCT sells for thousands. This is why I purchased a second one for a two channel only system. Used just as a stereo preamp it is a bargain at this price and performance. However, it also has an excellent digital section and as a DAC also performs extremely well. Throw in the surround sound capability and you just cant beat this preamp. I never missed HDMI since I used the optical from my tv or cable box directly to the HTS when I used it for surround sound. The manual is available online so a print version is not included. The manual is verly large as there are many functions this processor can perform. As such, please note that I have not tested everything this unit can do but have tested quite a bit. Specifically I tested all digital inputs including the optical and coax. I had issues with optical 1 not picking up audio signal and am not sure if this was a configuration issue or if that input stopped working. All others worked sourced from disc players. The single ended and balanced outputs (8 of each) were all tested with either a source component or using the Krell HTS auto calibration function. You can see this function screen in the attached menu picture. I tested the on screen display using the rca cable output marked OSD. (Please note that when you set up your unit, the input needs to be on LD (Laserdisc) to see the menu. I also tested the balanced inputs which is how this unit was primarily used. The original Krell remote is not included, but instead I am including a Logitech Harmony 600 universal remote control that works well with the Krell HTS 7.1 and can also control many other components which the Krell remote cant do. For security reasons, I will factory reset the remote. To set up, you need to connect it to your PC with a usb cable and program it through the Logitech web site with your account. The programming is simple as you basically search for the Krell HTS 7.1. During this progamming you can also add other components for the remote to control. Cosmetically the unit is in excellent condition with some minor blemishes that I tried to capture with the pictures. They are difficult to see in normal light. No other functions were tested so this is being sold as described and as is. Unit is for US voltage. It will ship in a generic box and with the harmony remote and a power cable. The unit will be carefully packaged for safe shipping.
