It is ruthlessly revealing of everything upstream and is, in this respect, the finest reference amplifier currently available. It will drive virtually any load, and is the first amplifier this listener has heard that successfully combines ultimate musical finesse with sheer dynamic brawn without sacrificing much along the way. While the KSA-250 does not quite measure up to the finest tube electronics in the area of harmonic accuracy, and falls somewhat short of the best solid-state in the ability to resolve vocal and instrumental attacks, it wins the prize in overall musical and sonic honesty. But if youre thinking about buying one of these, be darn sure that your front-end electronics are the very best, or else you may be disappointed. If youre in the market for a great amplifier (or even if youre not), you owe it to yourself to audition the KSA-250. It doesnt get much better than this, folks, so find the checkbook, put off painting the house until next year, and get to your local Krell dealer. Now, how am I going to explain to my wife that we need to buy a new amplifier... Downsides? I cant think of anything about the KRC-3 thats so debilitating that it could deprive the product of some sort of award for its bargain nature. Coming from an all-tube pre-amp, especially the GRAAF, an older Audio Research, or even a small budget tube design like a Trilogy 900 still leaves the listener with an awareness that you can get even richer, fatter, warmer sound. But youll probably pay for that with a loss of transparency or some artificial sweetening. To put it into perspective, the KRC-3 is a Krell pre-amp for those who found its predecessors too demanding, too forceful, too disciplinarian. The older Krells told you what to hear; the KRC-3 lets you relax. The older Krells were almost Teutonic; the KRC-3 speaks in a Latin tongue. Traditional Krells were hyper-analytical; this one just wants to party. In a nutshell? Its a Krell for music lovers who dont want to be bossed around. The relatively affordable price is merely a welcomed, unexpected extra. Now how about a matching Krell stereo 50-watter for the same price?

For your consideration a very rare Krell KSA-5 Headphone Amplifier. Considered by many Audiophiles to be the Holy Grail of headphone amplification. I acquired this amp from my brother, a former Krell employee, several years ago. As I understand, only approximately 500 of these amps were produced by Krell. Per Krell customer service, this unit was manufactured in 1992-93 and is possibly #3 off the production line since the featured brochure photos were taken of number 1 (see the photos). The amp and separate power supply are in very good condition for its age. All original power and connection cables included. Sounds superb when paired with quality headphones. Krell KSA 200S Class A Power Amplifier. The Krell KSA 200S is one of the company’s best designed and executed models. Krell Class A Power Amps are built like tanks. This beast weighs in at nearly 150 pounds. The amp powers on but has not been fully tested. It is being sold as-is and needs servicing. It will be costly to ship, and a shipping crate will have to be constructed to safely protect the contents.
