Up for bid is a non-working KrellKSA-250 amplifier that I am selling for a widowed friend. The unit lights up,but does not produce sound.I contacted both Krell and GeorgeMeyer Audio/Video (an authorized Krell repair center), and I was given ballpark estimates of repair to be between $1,200.-$1,800.00.The turnaround time at Krell was notprovided, but it sounded like it could be long wait.George Meyer Audio/Video on theother hand was three weeks to be looked at and fixed within five.Both those times were when Icalled a few months back.The amp is large and heavy. We didnot find the original box and packing, so I had a shipping crate custom builtfor the amp.It would be most cost effectivefor the buyer for me to ship directly to the repair facility of choice. Meyer is located in Los Angles andthe shipping cost via UPS freight is $571.61. Krell is in Orange CT. and theshipping there is $636.97 ($65.36 more). The buyer can determine where the ampis t be shipped, however the cost will be adjusted accordingly.Cosmetically (as can be seen inthe pictures), the are a scratches on the front panel pieces. I did not inquire if these could bereplaced. The rest of the unit is pretty much pristine. I would encourage any prospectivebuyer to call to verify the information provided information. Meyer answerscalls immediately. Krell on the otherhand was very slow. I left messages and emailed, and it was more than a monthbefore I heard back from them.If you do the math, with shippingcosts and repair, you could own a rebuilt Krell KSA-250 for around $3,500.00.
