Description
This Klipsch KDA-500 amplifier offers Klipsch power and performance in a sleek, 1 rack unit solution. The 1RU-sized amplifier measures 1.73 x 19.02 x 14.29 [44mm x 483mm x 363 mm]. The high efficiency class G/H design produces 500 watts, 125 watts to each of its four channels, but draws just 40 watts at idle (or less if auto-turn on is selected in the online menu). The auto-on sensing threshold to turn on the amplifier can be adjusted from 1 mV to 100 mV. The outputs can be programmed for low impedance speakers: 4, 6, 8 or 16 ohm, or for 70V/100V distributed line applications. Impedance can be set independently for each channel for full customization. Pairs of outlets can also be bridged via the menu. From small residential systems to large commercial installations, this amplifier offers professional-level installation flexibility. A web-based DSP menu allows setting gain, EQ and limiting, plus offers presets for almost every Klipsch speaker on the market, to optimize acoustic performance and power handling with a single click. Some settings like channel assignment can be protected by a password, while others can be made available to adjust wirelessly from a tablet, phone or computer when the KDA is connected (via wire) to the networks wireless router. Klipsch reports Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is <1% at rated output. Signal to noise ratio is -100dB Below Rated Output. Input impedance is a balanced 40k. Input sensitivity is 750 mV Balanced, 0dBU. Normally the excellent KDA-500 amplifier would have a capacitor weakness, but that has been addressed with installation of a much better quality, more durable, higher voltage-rated, Panasonic FR, low-ESR capacitor, so the owner can now enjoy trouble-free performance. All channels have been tested, and the latest firmware and user interface software have been uploaded. If desired, I will include four printed items: firmware user guide, owners manual, the KDAs page from Klipschs professional brochure, and the specification sheet. These documents are also available to download from Klipsch. This final one of my available KDA-500 amplifiers has a cosmetic crack in the front bezel. (See close up photos). I will include a Fed Ex Ground return label in the box, if purchasing this within the lower 48 states. If you have an old KDA-500 or KDA-1000 amplifier that is no longer working correctly, you may ship that amplifier back to me for a core return refund. Please reuse my packaging, and if the box can be reused, that can be used as well. A $50 refund is available if my Fed Ex label is used, or a $75 refund is available if you pay the core’s shipping cost. Let me know if you have questions. 6 month warranty is included. A series mode power filter is highly recommended to protect valuable audio equipment from power line spikes and noise. I recommend SurgeX or ZeroSurge, and have a variety available in new and used condition, from $115. Contact me for details. If this purchase is paired with use of a new or used series-mode filter to protect amplifier and signal source, I will extend the warranty to two years.
