Servicing: - Fully serviced/ Cleaned- Solder reflowed as with age some of the high current joints can start to go- DC offset adjusted. It is now set to below 2mV or 0.002volts.- Bias set to optimal levels. Tested it for several hours and got it dialed in perfectly.- Meters calibrated, and luminosity set to 70% (better life and wont hurt the eyes at night)- Tested the fan thermostat, triggered at the right time- Controls cleaned and lubricated- Functionally there is nothing wrong with it- Tested power outputs as follows: (All before clipping at 1kHz) 288 watts x2 into 8 ohms 361 watts x 2 into 4 ohms 484 watts x1 into 4 ohms Upgrades: I have done the following upgrades to the unit. Installed Premium Banana Speaker binding posts. These Jacks have a unique look that go with the RCA Jacks. The OEM posts do not accept banana jacks, just bare wire. These ones accept bare wire, banana jacks, Spade lugs and other connectors. I chose ones that match the RCA jacks. Installed Gold plated Audiophile grade RCA Jacks (to Match the speaker posts).RECAPPED all signal path capacitors with a combination of Nichicon Fine Gold UKZ, Panasonic low ESR FC and Nichicon Muse. These are purposely selected good quality capacitors that are fit for purpose. 6-8 hours of time went into this unit. Price that at whatever you feel is a fair price. This is in great condition and working great too. Sounds incredible. Powerful with 220 watts rms per channel with a damping factor of 1000 !!! Really keeps the woofers under control. All lights and functions working as well. The DLD feature must be used as per Kenwoods recommendations. Or just use the regular hook ups . Plenty of information on line. Was over 500mV when I got it, it is now set to below 3mV or 0.003volts.- Bias set to optimal levels- Controls cleaned and lubricated- Functionally there is nothing wrong with it Upgrades: I have done the following upgrades to the unit. Installed Banana Speaker binding posts. the OEM posts do not accept banana jacks, just bare wire. These ones accept bare wire, banana jacks, Spade lugs and other connectors. Installed a 2 stage fan control. OEM does only one trigger at 55c, I installed a second soft fan start if the temps exceed 45c. The fans run at very slow speed in this mode (see pic with blue arrow). If the temperature gets to 55c, the OEM thermostat kicks in and runs the fan at full speed. I could only get it to trigger the soft stage 1 after 50 minutes of loud testing with 4 ohm speakers. Installed larger rubber feet. OEMs were hard plastic..RECAPPED all signal path capacitors with a combination of WIMA (4x) and Nichicon Muse (8x) You will not find a better sounding Kenwood M2a!
