This is a real long range radio, You cant be plugging it into your Cigar lighter socket, Unless you keep it on 5 Watts output.It needs heavy 12V cables.It draws 16 amps on high power transmit.It comes with the mating power connector It is 11 x 7 x 2.5. It weighs about 5 pounds. Comes with a MC-43S microphone.The microphone connector end has black tape on it supporting the cable. It HAS a Kenwood TU-7 CTCSS tone encoder for working repeaters.The sale includes a copy the instruction manual. This radio has a very good pre-selection on the front end,you wont hear those out of band paging tones on this receiver. NO mobile mounting bracket is included. There may be other Kenwood units that this will work in, but we ask that you refer to your manual for verification. For most people, having verbal announcement of frequency is unnecessary. But for others, having this VS-1 is a lifesaver should you have a defective display or have a visual impairment. The frequency is announced covering the entire frequency on the display and there is a choice of English / Japanese language and the ability to control the volume of the announcement.Installation of the module in the R-5000 is rather easy requiring no soldering and only a little time to remove the covers from the unit, connect a couple of cables, and then fasten into place using the 2 supplied screws. Installation should take approximately 1/2 hour and is not technical.
