The power amplifier section is a quasi-complementary circuit with an output of 70W/70W (into 8 ohms). The preamplifier and main amplifier sections can be used independently of each other. The tone control is a rotary switch with 11 steps for Bass and Treble respectively, with a switch that can be IN/DEFEAT for Bass and Treble respectively. The phono is equipped with a built-in head amp for MC, and PHONO1 has a switch on the rear panel that allows switching between three levels of sensitivity: 50?V, 0.5mV, and 2mV.As a protection circuit, it is equipped with an auto-resetting pure electronic protection circuit that detects overcurrent in the end stage.A sapphire blue indicator lights up in response to the input source. This was Kenwood’s Top of the Line Integrated offered in the United States at the time. The X000 line was the first of the Silver Faced stereo components offered by Kenwood. This Kenwood KA-6000 exhibits a wonderfully detailed and warm sound, reminiscent of a quality vintage tube amplifier. Definitely has more than enough power to play medium to high efficiency speakers to a loud level in a typically sized listening room in a home. Super sweet sounding, very musical with a slightly warm but very detailed & dynamic sound. Plenty of power, this and the 7006 or 8004 are great amps, cool-looking too. Could be Accuphase in Kenwood/Trio clothing perhaps? Of couse, erlier Trio models 1972-1974 like these were constructed by the same sound enginers as Accuphase.
