Kenwood 700T AM-FM Stereo Tuner. Ive owned this tuner since new in the 1970s when I purchased it at one of the suburban Musicraft stores outside of Chicago. In spite of its reputation, this particular unit was a very good sounding tuner when working properly. The problem I had with it was the two stage tuning mechanism. The two stage mechanism malfunctioned and became a one stage tuning mechanism. I discontinued use of this tuner many years ago and it hasnt been plugged in since. For that reason, it must be assumed that it needs a good service before it could be used again. Also, because of the time sitting unused, the best practice would be to power it up slowly using a variac. Even then, who knows what the capacitors are going to do. Cosmetically, the tuner is very good. There are no nicks, scraps, gouges, etc. For someone who already has the 700 series preamp and power amp, this would be a nice addition. Is it worth $99 -- thats for you to decide.
