Pair of KEF Model 102 Reference Series speakers with KEF Kube 102. Circa late 1980s. The Kube is a bass frequency extender and is needed for best sound. Important: your amp or receiver must have a Tape2/Monitor button or send-return (effects loop) capability to utilize the Kube. Two-way system with 6 and 1.25 drivers. The drivers are all original and perform well. I replaced the ferrofluid in both tweeters in 2022 after noticing reduced high frequencies. The high frequency response is restored. Very good cosmetic condition. There is a ding and scratch in the finish of one speaker (see photos).Deep reddish brown cherry finish.One of the grill cloths mounting pegs is slightly pushed in, which pushes the grill cloth outward in one corner, but it has not punctured the cloth. Power cords for the Kube are included. RCA cables for Kube/receiver connection and speaker wires for receiver/speaker connection are NOT included. Dimensions of one speaker: 8 3/16 wide x 13 tall x 10 3/8 deep with grill cloth on. The owners manual for these is free to read online for tech specs, wire connections, and suggested placement within your listening space. This guy downsized about 5 years ago and moved into a condo. He put all his audio gear into storage, including these KEF 107s that he bought from us years ago. We hooked them up and tested them. There was an issue with the KUBE distorting. We had that repaired by a local qualified technician that weve been using to do all are service work since the 70s. Once the KUBE was fixed, we hooked them up again to Parasound HALO electronics. Sounded great. Just like they did when we first installed them in his home.Price is for the pair. I have provided lots of pictures so you can see for yourself. They come with the original fronts, but it is possible that the cloth has been replaced at some point. The cloth has become unstuck in places and is held on by tape. An easy fix should you wish to replace the cloth. KEF Kube low-level equalisation system is the one supplied with the speakers. It is missing one of the buttons, but it is still easy to use by pressing the stem where the button used to sit. The installation manual is also present. The cover is a bit creased, but the inside is in good condition except I have written on the last page (see picture) They sound fantastic, I gave them a final listen before boxing up for dispatch. Its well worth following the manual for set up and using the kube.

KEF 102 Reference Series Bookshelf Speakers with Kube all in box. I got these from a collector in a trade deal. I opened the box with speakers to verify that they are still factory packaged. The cube I opened up as well to make sure it was complete. Please see the pictures. Box matches the serial number to the speakers. As shown. Make sure your receiver/ amplifier has the ability to have the kube in the loop. Preamplifier to amp rca connections. Might be able to use the tape loop as well. I strongly suggest looking into this before buying. These are the mid to late 80s. They have never been opened besides the box for verification purposes. Nothing is rattling around. Returns are welcome if they are still sealed as shown. Due to part swapping No returns if you opened them from factory wrapping. Subject to restocking fee of 20% if returned because you didnt read the part about using the kube the right way. Your responsible for return shipping. Im not trying to be difficult seller. KEF KUBE 102 Active Speaker Equalizer for KEF 102 Reference Speakers Although the Tape button is not original and is just a tad smaller in diameter it does fit properly and looks good and it truly distinguishes between Tape and Extend, was not glued in Last Pick. You will often see 102’s offered for sale without the Kube. Although they will work and sound very nice, the level of subtle bass and extended overall performance enabled by the Kube is quite remarkable. Close your eyes and you wouldn’t believe that you’re hearing this quality of sound from such a diminutive enclosure.
