Im open for reasonable offers. Working KEF C40 speakers. Crossovers were upgraded with bipolar poly caps. Tweeters was replaced with a peerless one. Cabinets arent in the best shape in the corners. You have to be careful handling the bottom of the speakers because the laminate is breaking free. The top of the one grill is a little bowed. Might be able to straighten it out with a heat gun. They are well packed up and ready to roll. Will ship immediately upon payment. You can pick them up if close to Harrisburg, PA

KEF C40 SPEAKERS were just bench tested. They sound great ! There are marks and small dings on the cabinets as they are used. The speakers show wear on the drivers as they are vintage 1980s. The grills show wear too . This does not affect performance. Overall condition is good. ( SEE PICTURES ). These are sequential number speakers ! Offered for your consideration is a vintage KEF Type SP1205 8” (200 mm) woofer removed from my C40 speakers, manufactured in England c.1987. KEF used a practically identical 8” mid/bass driver in several of their other C-series models in the mid-to-late 1980’s, but unless your blown or damaged unit has KEF Type SP1205 stamped on the magnet cover, the impedance may not be correct for your speaker.So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this superb KEF mid/bass woofer is correct for your needs. *Although the listing is written in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical KEF SP1205 woofers are available at the time of this writing. Please choose if you’d like to buy one or both in the quantity field at the top of the listing. The shipping cost will be automatically calculated by eBay checkout. This KEF woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The black polypropylene cone is in great shape with no flaws whatsoever and the voice coil dustcap is perfect as well. I should mention that the dustcap atop coil is raised slightly off of the cone which, along with the “bottle cap crinkle” at cap bottom, appears to be for dissipation of heat. Plus, the surround is permanent rubber instead of the fragile foam widely used by most other makers in the 1980’s, and the black enameled basket is also in great shape. And, the double-type +/- terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity, and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this is one very well-preserved mid/bass driver. Most importantly, it was fully tested in the C40 cabinet before disassembly and sounds splendid—very clear with fast, detailed midrange and solid low-end output for the platform size. KEF is renowned for the accuracy of their mid/bass units. Plus, I tested the DC resistance at 3.3-3.4? consistent with a 3 ohm nominal driver rating. The C40 uses two SP1205 drivers per cabinet, one for midrange and bass, the other for only bass, and they’re series-wired in the crossover for the speakers’ net nominal 8 ohm rating. Lastly, the basket measures 8¼” across (9¼” at the truncated corners), it stands 3½” tall, and the mount holes ae spaced 6” adjacent / just over 8½” on the diagonal, c-t-c.This is a nice if you have a blown or damaged 8” driver in your C40 or other suitable KEF model—your classic British speakers will be sounding their best again!As pictured and described, this KEF Type 1205 bass/midrange woofer is offered at a competitive price. Up for auction is a pair of used KEF C40 small floorstanding speakers. All drivers work- original tweeters (included) have low output and were replaced with new Dayton Audio DC28FT-8 tweeters with similar parameters. Minor modifications were done to the tweeter cutouts to accommodate the new tweeter terminals- original tweeters could be put back with no visible change to the front baffle. The speakers sound very nice. Cosmetic condition is good with the only real issues being an upper corner hole in the cloth of one grille and some discoloration of the cloth. Offered AS IS, as described. Please check the photos to judge condition. Local pickup preferred, but willing to ship only within the lower 48 US states. Thanks for looking.
