This amplifier has been sitting in the loft for ten years and I no longer have a record deck, cassette deck or speakers to test it thoroughly, but the headphone socket works well. As an amplifier this JVC JR-61L is great with superb sound. However, there are a few minor issues with it which may need attention so please don’t buy it unless you are able to do minor repairs on electrical equipment, or are not bothered by them. The volume control crackles when turned. Once in position it’s fine but the pot probably needs cleaning to eradicate the noise and make a clean connection. Bass, treble, loudness and mono controls all working. The radio tuner control casing has become detached from the control dial. The dial turns perfectly well without the casing but the casing needs to be glued back on for a nicer look. I can’t get anything out of the radio but I am in a poor reception area and don’t have an ariel. RCA Inputs for phono (record deck), play and record input and output for cassette deck. This amp was made before other devices became popular but an MP3 player,laptop etc can successfully be plugged into the cassette play input Push button speaker terminals – so much easier to connect speakers than the wrap-around type on most older amplifiers. Therefore,this amplifier has been partially tested using headphones and is working normally but the rear inputs and outputs haven’t been tested.
