Rare vintage JVC BN-5 Biphonic Processor in good condition. Allows playback of binaural recordings (meant for headphone use) accurately over conventional home stereo speakers (even dummy head sourced recordings). Also allows capability to expand the soundstage width and depth of ordinary stereo recordings. The BN-5 Biphonic Processor was developed through JVCs sound field reproduction technology after many years of research and development in binaural sound reproduction and allowing binaural sound playback through speakers. Due to the placement of the ears on both sides of the head, one can sense the direction and distance of sound sources in a full 360 degree circle. Binaural technology was originally developed to simulate the placement of human ears with two microphones during recording. Until the BN-5 processor was available, Binaural playback was impossible with speakers and was strictly for use with headphones. This was due to the speakers mixing the sound from both channels causing the listener to hear both channels through both ears rather than discrete isolated binaural sound due to crosstalk distortion. This is a multi-voltage unit that has a selector switch on back for using standard 120-volt AC for US or 220/240-volts AC in other countries. Very nice condition, however there is some glue or adhesive residue on each side of top cover from where previous owner attached rack mounts (is my guess). The amber colored power light is out. Optisch sehr gut erhalten, trotzdem gibt es natrlich Gebrauchsspuren. Das Gert ist schlielich ber 40 Jahre alt. Radio funktioniert. Kassettenlaufwerk funktioniert. ( play, vorlauf- und Rcklauf ) Aufnahme nicht getestet. Antenne ist heil. Batteriefach sauber. ( nicht getestet ) LEDs funktionieren auch. Sehr guter Klang.
